  • Patent number: 5456074
Abstract: A method of using an apparatus for unwrapping tangled, high voltage subconductors. The apparatus includes sheaves that hold each subconductor. Each subconductor is disposed in a gap between an upper and lower sheave. The invention can accommodate either two parallel subconductors, three subconductors arranged in a triangular formation, or a quad or rectangular arrangement. Once installed on the subconductors, the device is moved along the line so as to unwrap the subconductors.

  • Patent number: 5078347
Abstract: Apparatus for supporting energized conductors while repair work is being done on insulators or to a utility pole whereby work can be performed expediently without interrupting the power being supplied to consumers. The invention includes a longitudinal beam with conductor supports mounted thereto. The present invention is designed to be supported from above and to dangle downwards while supporting the conductors. It is also advisable to provide the invention with a lower attachment to steady the beam. The apparatus is adaptable to any phase spacing of vertical conductors. The apparatus can also hold horizontal bundled conductors with some modifications to the support brackets.

  • Patent number: 4975004
Abstract: An apparatus for drilling into energized utility components without having to first de-energize them so as to allow continuous service to consumers is provided. The apparatus includes a drive shaft constructed of an insulating material terminating in a drill chuck and drill bit. The drive shaft is supported by an adjacent rod using pillar block bearing assemblies which allow the uninhibited rotation of the drive shaft. This attachment can be powered by a variety of power units.

  • Patent number: 4973795
Abstract: Apparatus for and a method of using a temporary transmission hot line crossarm to replace or repair an existing transmission hot line crossarm. The apparatus includes parts to support energized transmission line conductors and parts which support the apparatus. A boom with insulators and hooks attached supplies the mechanism to support the conductors and a lifting ring and sling supply support for the boom. The temporary transmission hot line crossarm enables repair work to be done without deenergizing the transmission lines.
