  • Patent number: 8215079
Abstract: A compressed building block formed of a pre-mix of fly ash, Class C type, are combined with various aggregates either ground wood and/or chips, having maybe a small amount of Portland cement added thereto, moisturized, and then either molded, extruded or compressed in a press into the configuration of a block. A plasticizer, wetting agent and surfactant solution may be added to the composition. Boron as a mold retardant and an insecticide, may be added to the composition, to provide the formed block with further beneficial attributes. The blocks may be formed by a system for extruding such blocks from the formulation, or they may be formed by means of a mold or hydraulic or other press and pressed into the configuration of the desired block, needed for the construction.

  • Publication number: 20090151292
Abstract: A compressed building block formed of a pre-mix of fly ash, either of the Class C type, is combined with either ground or pulverized wood chips, or with fine sand, and a plasticizer, and accelerator, then moisturized, and lastly either extruded or compressed in a mold into the configuration of a block. The block lacks a binder, except Portland cement for select military applications. A mold retardant may be added to the mixture, to provide the formed block with further beneficial attributes. The blocks may be formed by a system for extruding such blocks from the formulation, or they may be formed by means of a hydraulic or other press and pressed into the configuration of the desired block, needed for the construction.

  • Publication number: 20040217500
Abstract: A building block manufacturing system comprising a compression chamber capable of containing compressible block making material, said material comprised entirely or in part of waste material, preferably selected from the group consisting of fly ash, ground wood, waste vegetation matter, sea shells and sand; and a ram capable of exerting a desired pressure on the contents of said compression chamber; wherein, when said block making material being is placed in the compression chamber, the ram may exert a desired pressure on the material thereby compressing, and assisting in the curing or the material into a desired shape conforming to the interior surfaces of the compression chamber. The present invention also comprises the novel method of using the novel block manufacturing system.

  • Publication number: 20040040245
Abstract: A compressed building block formed of a pre-mix of fly ash, either of the Class C type, or provided from sugar beet waste lime, are combined with either ground or pulverized wood and/or chips, or with fine sand, having a small amount of Portland cement added thereto, moisturized, and then either extruded or compressed in a press into the configuration of a block. A fire retardant, and an insecticide, may be added to the composition, to provide the formed block with further beneficial attributes. The blocks may be formed by a system for extruding such blocks from the formulation, or they may be formed by means of a hydraulic or other press and pressed into the configuration of the desired block, needed for the construction.

  • Patent number: 5339714
Abstract: The production of packaging material for expanded polystyrene (EPS) includes randomly placing a piece of EPS of any size or shape across a first grid of wires, cutting the EPS into strips by heating the wires, allowing the strips to fall to a second grid of wires, and cutting the EPS strips by heating the second set of wires.
