  • Publication number: 20140037537
Abstract: Steam reforming a hydrocarbon feed such as liquefied petroleum gas is conducted in the presence of a catalyst comprising a precious metal such as rhodium on a support comprising ceria, zirconia and praseodymium oxide.
    Type: Application
    Filed: August 2, 2012
    Publication date: February 6, 2014
    Applicant: BASF Corporation
Inventors: Lucas Donald Dorazio, Robert Farrauto
  • Publication number: 20080041766
Abstract: A method of reforming a sulfur containing hydrocarbon involves contacting the sulfur containing hydrocarbon with a sulfur tolerant catalyst containing a non-sulfating carrier and one or more of a sulfur tolerant precious metal and a non-precious metal compound so that the sulfur tolerant catalyst adsorbs at least a portion of sulfur in the sulfur containing hydrocarbon and a low sulfur reformate is collected, and contacting the sulfur tolerant catalyst with an oxygen containing gas to convert at least a portion of adsorbed sulfur to a sulfur oxide that is desorbed from the sulfur tolerant catalyst.

    Publication date: February 21, 2008
    Applicant: BASF CATALYSTS LLC
Inventors: Thomas Giroux, Earl Waterman, Robert Farrauto
  • Publication number: 20070258882
Abstract: An alcohol steam reforming catalyst for generating hydrogen contains palladium, yttrium, and at least one of cerium and a metal oxide. The catalyst displays both an improved alcohol conversion rate and improved carbon dioxide selectivity. Methods of making and using the alcohol steam reforming catalyst are described.

  • Publication number: 20070199302
Abstract: Oxidation catalyst compositions for treating diesel exhaust include ceria and, optionally, alumina, each having a surface area of at least about 10 m2/g, and a zeolite, e.g., Beta zeolite. Optionally, platinum may be included in the catalytic material, preferably in amounts which are sufficient to promote some gas-phase oxidation of carbon monoxide (“CO”) and hydrocarbons (“HC”) but which are limited to preclude excessive oxidation of SO2 to SO3. Alternatively, palladium in any desired amount may be included in the catalytic material. The zeolite is optionally doped, e.g., ion-exchanged, with one or more of hydrogen, a platinum group metal or other catalytic metals. The catalyst compositions may be used in a method to treat diesel engine exhaust by contacting the hot exhaust with the catalyst composition to promote the oxidation of gas-phase CO and HC and of the volatile organic fraction component of particulates in the exhaust.

  • Publication number: 20070140953
Abstract: Operating conditions for generating hydrogen by the water-gas shift reaction have been found which reduce the aging of Pt—bimetallic water-gas shift catalysts. The process parameters provide a stable operation in residential fuel processors and in hydrogen generators for on-site hydrogen generation.
