  • Publication number: 20140318600
Abstract: A combined solar daylighting system and photovoltaic electric generation system operates when daylighting both is and is not required. A photovoltaic (PV) array is mounted on the back side of a secondary reflector of the daylighting system with the secondary reflector hinged in such a way that, when sunlight is not needed, the PV array can be positioned to collect the concentrated solar radiation from the primary reflector and convert it into electrical energy. When sunlight is needed for daylighting, the PV array on the back of the secondary reflector receives unconcentrated solar radiation, thereby converting it to electrical energy, though not in as large a quantity as when receiving concentrated solar radiation from the primary concentrating reflector in solar-only mode.

  • Publication number: 20110033818
Abstract: An intraoral tool cleaning system and method of use of the system, enabling a user to clean debris and fog from an intraoral mirror with a one-handed motion and limited cross-contamination between patients. In one embodiment, the system includes a disposable sponge adapted to remove particles from a mirror surface of the intraoral mirror by abrading the mirror surface, a housing that contains the sponge, and a base that secures the housing to a surface. In another embodiment, the system includes a disposable sponge, a disposable base that secures the sponge to a surface on an appendage of the user, and a fastener that adheres the sponge to the base.

  • Patent number: 4598921
Abstract: A wheelchair system comprises a substantially rigid seat adapted to be mounted on at least two alternative types of carriages having different drive arrangements each comprising a pair of molded plastic side frames which are interconnected by a bracing mechanism to permit the side frames to be folded together for collapsing the chair or spread apart for erecting the chair. A connecting system including locators which allow the seat to be placed on an approximately fully spread carriage and then to locate the side frames at the correct spacing from one another in order to ensure complete spreading of the carriage, and additionally retainers which allow the seat to be moved into a position in which it cannot be lifted from the thus spread carriage, the retainers allow positive engagement of the seat with the chair with the ability to spread the carriage solely by downward pressure on the seat, thereby enabling a disabled user of the wheelchair to be able to place the seat on the carriage ready for use.
