  • Patent number: 8613702
Abstract: A neonatal feeding tube (10) includes electronics and instrumentation for monitoring a neonate and for provides nourishment to the neonate. The tube (10) includes electrodes (20) for sensing ECG signals of the neonate. Thermistors (22, 24, 28, 30) are placed at various points along the tube (10) to measure the neonate's temperature at those points. Breathing effort is measured by calculating a pressure differential at two pressure ports (32, 34). Pulse and SpO2 are measured at a fiber optic window (35). The electrodes (20), a distal electrode (64) and a light source (66) aid in helping a caregiver position the tip (12) of the tube (10) correctly in the stomach of the neonate.

  • Patent number: 6477430
Abstract: A paddle for use with a defibrillator, the paddle being formed of an applicator attached to a pad portion. The applicator includes a flexible plate, a handle attached to a top of the flexible plate, and an applicator connector disposed on a bottom of the flexible plate. The pad portion is electrically connected to the applicator, and includes a flexible backing that is shaped by the flexible plate, a pad portion connector disposed on the flexible backing to form a connection to the applicator connector, a lid attached to the flexible backing, and an adhesive conductive medium attached to a bottom of the flexible backing and removably encased by the lid. An electrical contact is disposed on the lid and is electrically connected to the pad portion and is exposed while the conductive medium is removably encased by the lid.

  • Patent number: 6350160
Abstract: A medical connector and adapter system that includes: a male cable connector, and a female cable-receiving housing for electrically coupling with the male cable connector. The male cable connector has a protrusion that is adapted to slide over the wall of the female cable-receiving housing. In one embodiment, the protrusion prevents the male cable connector from mating with a female cable-receiving housing that is incorporated into the housing of a defibrillator when there is no accommodation in the defibrillator housing to receive the protrusion. Further the male cable connector is electrically connected to pediatric electrodes and enables pediatric electrodes to be used with a manual defibrillator.

  • Patent number: 6346014
Abstract: A medical connector and adapter system that includes: a male cable connector, and a female cable-receiving housing for electrically coupling with the male cable connector. The male cable connector has a keying protrusion that corresponds to a keying channel in the cable-receiving housing. The keying feature prevents the male cable connector from being installed into a cable-receiving housing that does not have a keying channel.
