  • Patent number: 6298504
Abstract: A two frame sofa bed recliner has a seat frame, a back frame, and a pair of arm frames connected to both sides of the recliner. Vertical and horizontal slots are located in each of the arm frames. A first pin connected to a side of an upper portion of the back frame extends into the vertical slot. A second pin connected tog a lower portion of a side of the back frame extends into the horizontal slot. The pins move along the slots to guide the recliner from an upright to a fully reclined position and vice verse. An enlarged corner of the vertical slot securely engages the first pin when the recliner is in the fully reclined position preventing the recliner from jackknifing upward. Counter absorbing elements are fixedly attached to the side of the seat frame absorbs stress or pressure from the slots as the pins move therein and this stress is transferred uniformly along the attached surface of the seat frame.

  • Patent number: 5509151
Abstract: A two frame sofa bed recliner has a seat frame and back frame. The frames are elevated from the floor on supports. The frame ends are linked, overlapped, interengaging the seat frame with the back frame, enabling a simple conversion reconversion process from sofa bed to recliner. In recliner position the back frame tilts rearward on its end. The back frame is interlocked with the seat frame locked by a detent, retaining means and a second detent in a guide. Conversion and reconversion are effected by rotating the interlocked unit on to the back frame supports, disengaging the seat frame and back frame, then lowering the seat frame to the floor on the supports and interlocking the frames. For reconversion the process is reversed. A removable arm rest is attachable.

  • Patent number: 5327591
Abstract: A three piece sofa bed recliner has an end frame, seat frame and back frame. The frame ends are linked overlapped. Interengaging the seat frame with the back frame enables a simple conversion process from sofa bed to recliner. The back frame and end frames fold toward each other as the interlocked seat frame is moved backward. The end frame and back frame interlock with the end frame leg and the seat frame and back frame interlock releases during conversion. Reconversion is a simple forward pull unfolding the respective frames on their legs with an extending pivoted leg set between the end frame and back frame. Wheels facilitate movements. The end frame may be used to be a chaise lounge.

  • Patent number: 4996730
Abstract: A sofa bed recliner with a back frame that has no rearward movement when converting from a sitting position to a horizontal position, is provided with simple support legs, which facilitate the ease of converting and reverting the sofa bed recliner and providing proper support against overbalancing. The legs drop from beneath the seat frame when it is pulled forward and retract over the base, beneath the seat frame, when reverting. The legs have a stop so that they cannot get entangled with the base when the seat frame us lifted. A tension spring biases the back frame to facilitate movement.

  • Patent number: 4829611
Abstract: A sofa bed recliner which provides a sturdy, simpler inexpensive structure for reverting a seat frame and back frame from a horizontal position to a reclining position by the engagement of a freely pivotable detent, which interlocks the frames, allowing the frames to be simultaneously moved from a horizontal to a reclining position. The detent is automatically released as the back frame resumes reclining position.
