Abstract: An anti-recoil device is for being inserted in the stock of a firearm is provided. The anti-recoil device may include a cylindrical tube having a hollow core, a reciprocating magnet which can slide back and forth within the hollow core, and an end magnet disposed at each end of the hollow core, with the magnets oriented such that the magnetic poles of the reciprocating magnet face like poles of the end magnets. During operation, the recoil force of the firearm is partially counteracted by the interaction of the repelling magnetic forces. In some embodiments, the anti-recoil device includes a metal coil with windings around the exterior of the cylindrical tube. In other embodiments, the anti-recoil device includes air vents which allow the reciprocating magnet to create air cushions within the cylindrical tube.
