Patent number: 5641343Abstract: A portable air cleaner designed to remove fine particles and unwanted gases from a room to provide for a healthier and cleaner environment. The portable air cleaner includes a high air volume circulating design and operates quietly and efficiently. The portable air cleaner is designed to minimize the unsettling of particles which have settled out on the floor about the base of the air cleaner so as not to aggravate the particle concentration within the room environment. The portable air cleaner includes a particle filter designed to have ultra high efficiencies with respect to particle removal. Disposed coterminous to the particle filter to remove unwanted gases from the filter air to provide for improved cleaner and healthier environment.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 1996Date of Patent: June 24, 1997Assignee: HMI Industries, Inc.Inventor: Robert A. Patent number: 5603741Abstract: Vacuum cleaner canisters and vacuum cleaner filter bags are provided with weir members disposed in the path of particle laden air flowing through the vacuum cleaner. The particle laden air flows across the top and/or side edges of the weir members creating a pressure drop thereacross and an area of low pressure on the downstream sides of the weir members whereby particles in the airstream are influenced to drop out of the airstream and into the low pressure areas.Type: GrantFiled: December 26, 1995Date of Patent: February 18, 1997Assignee: HMI Industries, Inc.Inventor: Robert A. Patent number: 4889175Abstract: A vehicle window assembly which includes first and second separate window glazing panels. The first window is fixed while the second may be pivoted between open and closed positions by a hand crank connected to a peripheral linkage system by a shaft, with the linkage connected to the second window. The hand crank is located at the center of the shaft and the shaft includes stop means for preventing overturning of the hand crank past the full open position of the window.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 1988Date of Patent: December 26, 1989Assignee: Excel Industries, Inc.Inventors: Robert A. Frey, Gail E. Woods, Leroy C. Schmuck

Patent number: 4618783Abstract: Mono-pulses of light are generated by time compression of laser energy. A Raman medium is located in a low Q energy storage cavity having low losses for light at a predetermined frequency and energy delivered by a laser is that frequency in the storage cavity. The Raman medium is also located in a Stokes cavity dimensioned for having a high gain at a Stokes frequency. Most of the stored energy at the Stokes frequency is extracted by a single to and fro travel through the Stokes cavity.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 1984Date of Patent: October 21, 1986Assignee: Centre National de la Rechereche ScientifiqueInventors: Francois Pradere, Robert Frey

Patent number: 4556117Abstract: A suspension system for an operator's compartment of a mine vehicle is set forth. The mine vehicle is of a type that has a body and operator's compartment positioned adjacent to the body. A guide is attached to the body of the vehicle and a rail is attached to the operator's compartment. This guide and rail arrangement slidably connects the operator's compartment to the body. The guide and rail are arranged to permit the operator's compartment to independently move upward and down in relation to the body. The rail is located in a central portion of the operator's compartment to minimize the angular displacement of the rail with respect to the guide upon rotation of the operator's compartment. This ensures free upward and downward motion of the operator's compartment with respect to the body of the vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 1984Date of Patent: December 3, 1985Assignee: Joy Manufacturing CompanyInventors: G. Robert Frey, Gregory M. Chandler, Richard A. King

Patent number: 4432399Abstract: A filling-thread monitoring device for jet looms in which a filling thread is guided during its introduction into the shed of a loom in a first guide channel which is formed by spaced members and is partially open on its side, contains a first filling thread stop motion means for the giving off of a signal when the filling thread introduced does not reach its normal length and a second filling thread stop motion means spaced from the first stop motion means in order to give off a signal when the filling thread introduced exceeds its normal length by a predetermined amount. Between the two filling thread stop motion means, a guide member is arranged which extends over the space which is free of warp threads and has a second guide channel which lies in the extension of the first guide channel and is closed in the filling direction.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 1981Date of Patent: February 21, 1984Assignee: Ruti Machinery Works Ltd.Inventors: Hans Bachmann, Robert Frey

Patent number: 4365682Abstract: A suspension system for the operator compartment of a mine vehicle suitable for working in underground mines having low head room. A pair of vertically extending guide tracks are rigidly secured to a frame member of the mine vehicle. Each of the track members has associated with it a roller bracket constructed so that all moving contact between the roller bracket and the guide track which guides it is a rolling contact. Each roller bracket includes a projecting stud member of substantial construction which passes through an opening in the rear wall of the operator compartment, the two stud members providing the only points of support for the operator compartment. The operator compartment normally rests on and slides over the floor of the mine and by this arrangement is free to move vertically up and down as the elevation of the mine floor changes or when the bottom of the operator compartment encounters obstacles or debris on the mine floor.Type: GrantFiled: December 24, 1980Date of Patent: December 28, 1982Assignee: Joy Manufacturing CompanyInventors: G. Robert Frey, Joseph A. Rogus, Paul R. Johnson, Richard A. King

Patent number: 4348599Abstract: For generation of a light beam having a narrow linewidth, an energy extraction beam of narrow linewidth, typically from a pulsed laser, is directed into a Raman medium having a large stimulated line. A second source, typically a pulsed laser, delivers a beam coaxial to the first in the medium. The frequency of the first beam is within the stimulated emission line of the medium induced by the second frequency and energy transfer occurs from the second to the first beam without substantial increase in the spectral linewidth.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 1981Date of Patent: September 7, 1982Assignee: Centre Nationale de la Recherche ScientifiqueInventors: Francois Pradere, Robert Frey

Patent number: 4229124Abstract: A roof bolting system for mines wherein a drill, a resin cartridge, a roof bolt cartridge and a roof bolt feed mechanism are carried on a single indexable head at the end of a boom extending outwardly from an operator's car or carriage. In a roof-bolting operation, the head is initially indexed to a position where the drill bores a hole in the roof of the mine. Thereafter, the head is indexed to the next position wherein a resin cartridge is fed into the drilled hole. Finally, the head is indexed to a third position where a roof bolt is fed into the resin-filled hole and tightened. Thereafter, the head is returned to its original position where the three steps are repeated. A resin cartridge and a bolt cartridge are provided for storing resin tubes and roof bolts such that the respective operations can be carried out automatically without the necessity for having an operator directly beneath the unsupported roof where the roof-bolting operation is occurring.Type: GrantFiled: February 15, 1979Date of Patent: October 21, 1980Assignee: Joy Manufacturing CompanyInventors: G. Robert Frey, Joseph Parrotto, Francis X. Fontaine

Patent number: 4076426Abstract: In inspecting a cathode-ray-tube window having a light-scattering inner surface, a pattern, which approximates the structure of the video images to be viewed through the window, is placed close to or against the inner surface. The pattern is observed through the window, and those local regions where the pattern appears to be distorted are identified.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 1976Date of Patent: February 28, 1978Assignee: RCA CorporationInventors: Harvey Andrew Gross, Harry Robert Frey, John David Messner, Raymond Frederick Walters
