  • Patent number: 8823316
Abstract: A system for harvesting electric energy from thermal energy includes energy conversion assemblies that can be distributed about a conduit through which a heated effluent flows. Each energy conversion assembly includes two heat sinks, a thermoelectric cell sandwiched between the two heat sinks, and a thermal insulating gasket surrounding the thermoelectric cell and separating the two heat sinks. Circuit wiring electrically connects to each thermoelectric cell where the energy conversion assemblies are electrically connected to one another in parallel. An electric power storage device is coupled to the circuit wiring.

  • Patent number: 5715798
Abstract: A fuel pump manifold for a fuel delivery system of an automotive internal combustion engine includes a unitary housing with a fluid conduit formed therein. Inlet and outlet ports communicate with the fluid conduit, which are adapted to be connected to the outlet of a fuel pump and a fuel supply line, respectively. The fuel pump manifold further includes a jet pump supply port communicating with the fluid conduit to feed a jet pump of the fuel delivery system. To prevent fuel from draining from the fuel supply line through the manifold, a check valve is disposed within the outlet port. A pressure relief is also disposed within the fuel pump manifold to relieve excessive pressure in the fuel supply line.

  • Patent number: 5262133
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of denuding a sodium-mercury amalgam to recover mercury therefrom and produce a sodium alcoholate. The amalgam is reacted with a C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 alcohol in the presence of a catalyst selected from the group consisting of tungsten carbide, iron treated high density carbon, iridium, ruthenium, and mixtures thereof. The resulting sodium alcoholate is separated from the mercury.

  • Patent number: 5154860
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of inhibiting the electrochemical corrosion of stainless steel immersed in an aqueous solution of about 20 to about 40 wt % alkali metal hydroxide at a temperature of less than 100.degree. C. About 2 to about 500 ppm of sodium borohydride, hydrazine, or a mixture thereof is added to the aqueous solution.

  • Patent number: 4188464
Abstract: A composite bipolar electrode structure is described. The structure includes an anode face comprised of a layer of a platinum group metal, metal oxide, or mixtures thereof, deposited on a layer of a valve metal, preferably titanium, a cathode face comprised of a cathode material, suitably a ferrous material, and an intermediate layer of conductive, porous material, such as graphite, positioned to be in electrical contact between the valve metal layer and the cathode material layer. The electrode is assembled by applying a thin layer of a polymeric material on the interfaces of the porous intermediate layers and pressing the components with sufficient pressure to force the polymeric material into the interstices of the intermediate layers.

  • Patent number: 4117940
Abstract: An elongated horizontal wheeled frame is provided for receiving hay bales thereon and the frame is adapted to be moved longitudinally over the ground. One end of an elongated generally horizontal arm is pivotally supported from one side of the frame for horizontal swinging of the arm about an upstanding axis relative to the frame between a first position with the arm projecting outwardly from the corresponding side of the frame and a second position with the arm swung forwardly to a position closely paralleling the frame. The free end portion of the arm includes a hay bale engaging structure which projects outwardly from the side of the arm opposing the frame when the arm is in the second position thereof and the hay bale engaging structure is adapted to supportively engage a ground supported hay bale toward which the arm is laterally advanced when it is in the first position thereof as the frame is forwardly advanced over the ground.
