  • Patent number: 7441002
Abstract: A method wherein a first user obtains an identifier for a desired destination user, makes a request to a server for a data communication with that desired destination user, retrieves a computer network address from a directory entry for that desired destination user, retrieves the source computer network address from the request packet from the first user, and sends requests to the computers of both users for return of respective stored unique identifiers. When these respective unique identifiers are received at the server, a check is made to see that they correspond to only one respective entry in a database, and the server then sends a message to one of the computers to make a data call to the other computer. Users register initially and download a helper application which stores the user's respective unique identifier together with, in a preferred embodiment, a unique password, which is also stored in the respective entry in the database.

  • Publication number: 20040066926
Abstract: In a Computer Telephony Integration environment, a method of, and system for, registering the identity of a telephone terminal in association with the identity of a computer terminal, in which a host computer requests a user, via a screen display on the computer of his workstation, to declare the number of the telephone which he wishes to be registered in association with his computer. When the user answers a call made to that telephone from the CTI-enabled PBX by command of the host computer (the CTI server of the registration system) and dials or speaks a codeword, this is received at the PBX and reported to the host computer, and the telephone is registered as associated with the computer terminal provided that the reported codeword matches the codeword provided to the user.

  • Patent number: 6594357
Abstract: In a Computer Telephony Integration environment, to reduce the risk of inadvertent or fraudulent registration of the association of a user's computer terminal with the wrong telephone, i.e. one other than the telephone adjacent to the computer terminal or the user's mobile telephone, a host computer instructs the user via a screen display to call a particular extension of a CTI-enabled PABX. When a call to that extension is detected, the PABX treats the call as having been answered, and reports this to the host computer. The user is now instructed to dial a codeword, and when this is received at the PABX and reported to the host computer, the telephone is registered as associated with the computer terminal provided that the reported codeword matches the codeword provided to the user. A number of variants and refinements provide for greater security against fraudulent registration.

  • Patent number: 6573911
Abstract: A customer station and an agent station communicate with a call center server. In response to a customer server issuing a resource location to the server, an HTML page is returned containing a Java applet. The server is also connected to a plurality of agents, possibly at a service center. The customer station and its associated agent station receive substantially similar pages. In response to a modification being made at either station, the information is relayed to the server resulting in modified pages being displayed at both the customer station and the agent station. In this way, it is possible for an agent to assist a customer completing application forms. A voice channel may be provided in parallel with the on-line communication.
