  • Patent number: 6637610
Abstract: Structure and procedures for lifting, transferring and moving a person, such as a bed ridden person or one requiring the use of a wheelchair, involve a frame (393) supported on wheels (394, 395), a horizontal load supporting beam (392) in an upper part of the frame, and a motor-powered winch (391) supported by the frame (393) for movement along the beam. Med winch (391) can be arranged to synchronously raise and lower a pair of horizontally spaced couplings by which a carrier (480) for a person can be connected to the winch (391). The beam (392) can be of variable length. The frame (393) can include a pair of beam-supporting legs (406, 407), one of which can be movable along and removable from the beam as extended from a minimum length state in which the frame (393) can be moved through a doorway.

  • Patent number: 4523305
Abstract: There is described, among other things, an accessory for a phonograph record disc which has a center hole axially of a label portion of the disc. The accessory comprises a sheet which is of circular annular shape and has a diameter not substantially greater than the disc label portion. One side of the sheet carries adhesive for affixing the sheet to the label portion of the record concentric to its center hole. The opposite side of the sheet carries an annular band which is positioned concentric to the center of the sheet. The annular band is defined by a magnetic recording medium. The magnetic recording medium facilitates the placement of information on the record disc which can be read and used by a programmable record player. The invention also describes a phonograph record having a central label portion and a circular hole through its axis. The record includes a band of magnetic recording medium affixed to the label portion concentric to the hole.

  • Patent number: 4302832
Abstract: There is described, among other things, a novel record player of the slot-loading type in which a phonograph record disc is supported in a playing position on a turntable rotatably driveable at a selected speed about an axis. The disc, in its playing position, is engageable with a stylus supported by a transducer cartridge held in a carriage which is movable along a line radially of the turntable above the turntable in response to tracking engagement of the stylus in the spiral groove of the phonograph record disc. The turntable is movable along such axis into and out of a playing position thereof, and the turntable and the carriage are disposed in an enclosing housing. According to this invention, the housing includes a door which is closed when the turntable is in its playing position.

  • Patent number: 4222574
Abstract: In a record player, a phonograph record disc is supported in a playing position on a turntable which is rotatably drivable at a selected speed about an axis. The disc, in its playing position, is engageable with a stylus carried by a transducer cartridge which is held in a carriage. The carriage is movable in a guide which defines a line of carriage movement radially of the turntable, the carriage being so movable in response to engagement of the stylus in the record groove. The player includes sensing means comprised of a follower member which is disposed adjacent the carriage and which is drivable along a path parallel to the carriage line for following the movement of the carriage during play of a record. The sensing means is operable for sensing the relative positions along the line and the path of the carriage and of the follower member, and for generating a signal indicative of such relative positions.

  • Patent number: 4121836
Abstract: There is described a novel suspension for mounting a phonograph transducer cartridge which has a stylus engageable in the groove of a phonograph record disc. The suspension mounts the cartridge for movement in the suspension only in a direction normal to the disc. A support has an operating position above a plane of rotation of the disc. A pair of carrier members are disposed on opposite sides of the position of a cartridge in the suspension, and cooperatively define a pair of opposing parallel, convexly-curved cylindrical surfaces. The carrier members are mounted to the support for rotation about a respective pivot axis. Each pivot axis is spaced from the respective cylindrical surface in a direction away from the other member, is parallel to the respective cylindrical surface directrix, and is parallel to the disc plane of rotation. Flexible strap means are connected to the carrier members for substantially encircling a cartridge positioned between the cylindrical surfaces.
