  • Publication number: 20140358204
Abstract: A device and method for non-invasive treatment of menopausal hot flashes. The device includes a hand-held assembly sized to be held in the palm of a user's hand; a cooling plate within the assembly and a cradle which docks with the assembly. The cradle plugs into an AC power source and includes a Peltier-effect element for cooling a contact plate. The contact plate in the cradle abuts the cooling plate in the docked assembly and cools the same, keeping it at the lowered temperature and ready for immediate use. The cradle includes a heat sink for dissipating heat generated by the Peltier-effect element. The assembly is undocked from the cradle. The cooled plate is placed against the skin on the back of the neck and is moved back and forth to stimulate cold thermoreceptors in the skin, thereby counteracting the false trigger which caused the hot flash.

  • Patent number: 8864600
Abstract: A golf training aid including a generally C-shaped base which snap-fits around the grip of a golf club. A single arm angles downwardly and forwardly away from a top end of the base. A contoured support is provided at the end of the arm which contacts the golfer's wrist and this support substantially prevents the golfer's wrist from breaking, i.e., bending, during the playing of a shot, particularly a chip shot. The arm is adjustable in length and is movable between retracted and extended positions to enable the golfer to customize the training aid to suit his or her body. The training aid assists in keeping the golfer's shoulders and arms in the correct orientation relative to each other to more effectively and consistently play chips shots.

  • Patent number: 8814034
Abstract: A collapsible paperboard container and a blank for constructing the same. The container has a bottom wall with a peripheral wall extending upwardly therefrom. A plurality of score lines are provided in the peripheral wall which facilitate movement of this wall from an expanded position to a collapsed position in response to a manual force being applied thereto to cause a first portion of the wall to move toward a second portion thereof. Visual indicators are provided on the container to identify to the consumer where and how to apply manual force to the peripheral wall.

  • Publication number: 20140173838
Abstract: A brush head for an electric toothbrush having a support structure rotatably oscillated by a motor in the handle of the toothbrush. A plurality of bristle tufts are mounted on the support structure in three ring-like series concentrically about a center point of the support structure. The bristle tufts are arranged in a unique arrangement whereby no more than two of the bristle tufts in the intermediate series and innermost series lie on a diameter line passing through the center point. The outermost and intermediate series of bristle tufts may be arranged in oval-shaped rings and the bristle tufts of the inner series may have a circular arrangement. All of the tufts preferably have the same height and diameter.

  • Patent number: 8651332
Abstract: A jug for retaining a plastic bag containing a liquid and a method of using the same. The jug includes a bottom and a peripheral wall extending upwardly therefrom and defining a cavity for receiving the bag. The peripheral wall terminates in a rim and a handle extends outwardly from the peripheral wall's exterior surface. An engagement means is provided on the jug to engage the bag and retain it within the cavity when the jug is tilted to pour the liquid therefrom. The engagement means preferably is a slit defined in the rear region of the peripheral wall adjacent the handle. The slit originates in the rim and extends downwardly for a distance. A portion of a rear region of the bag is slid into the slit and wedged therein. The wedged portion extends into a compartment defined by a retaining wall that extends outwardly from the peripheral wall.

  • Patent number: 8590091
Abstract: A replaceable brush head for a powered toothbrush and a toothbrush incorporating the same. The brush head includes a body having a bore extending therethrough and a driveshaft extending through the bore and rotatable about a longitudinal axis. A first bristle block is disposed in the body and is operatively engaged with the driveshaft. A second bristle block is disposed in the body and is operatively engaged with the first bristle block. Rotation of the driveshaft produces a first type of motion in the first bristle block and the motion of the first bristle block produces a second type of motion in the second bristle block.

  • Patent number: 8590092
Abstract: A vibrating toothbrush comprising a handle including a body with a tubular member extending outwardly from one end. A replaceable sleeve slides over the tubular member and detachably engages the body. One or more of the sleeve, tubular member and body incorporates a vibration damping zone for reducing vibration transmission from the sleeve to the handle. The damping zone is one of a material that differs in damping properties to the material of the rest of the toothbrush; a hole defined in the one of the sleeve, tubular member and body, and a toothbrush where that hole is filled with an elastomeric material.

  • Publication number: 20130291889
Abstract: A floss pick including a body with a handle and a head having a length of floss therein. The handle defines an aperture with a toothpick member disposed therein. The toothpick member is connected to the handle by first and second bridge members. In a first instance, the bridge members are broken to detach the toothpick member. In a second instance, the bridge members are twisted to pivot the toothpick member from a nonuse position to a use position where it is disposed at an angle relative to the body. The toothpick member is pivoted by engaging a terminal end thereof with an index finger of the hand in which the body is held. The angle of the toothpick member relative to the body is adjusted using the index finger to permit picking of the teeth in any region of the user's mouth without changing hands.

  • Patent number: 8522797
Abstract: A replaceable accessory head for a powered toothbrush. The user selects one of a plurality of dental care accessory assemblies for flossing, brushing teeth, or for stimulating the gums. That assembly is engaged with the head which in turn is engaged with the handle and is locked thereto. This locking motion also causes the assembly to become locked to the head and the assembly may then be used for its intended purpose. A vibratory mechanism in the handle is activated causing vibration in the accessory assembly and thus improving the flossing, brushing or gum stimulation motions. When the assembly is worn out or when a different dental hygiene task is to be undertaken, the user detaches the head from the handle, thereby simultaneously unlocking the accessory assembly from the head. The assembly is then disengaged and is replaced by a different accessory assembly.

  • Patent number: 8460306
Abstract: A clip for retaining a screw on a tip of a screwdriver shaft. The clip comprises a housing that has a first end and a second end and a longitudinal axis extending therebetween. The housing includes a longitudinal bore that is accessible from both the first and second ends of the housing. A pair of jaw members is provided on the housing proximate the first end thereof. The jaw members surround a first portion of the bore and are configured to capture and retain a length of the screwdriver shaft therebetween. A pair of clamping members is formed on the housing proximate the second end thereof. The clamping members surround a second portion of the bore and are configured to capture a head of the surgical screw therebetween. During use, the screwdriver shaft is pushed downwardly and twisted slightly within the bore to engage the head of the screw. The screw is threadably engaged in a pre-drilled hole in the patient's bone.
