Patent number: 7726243Abstract: A parachute flare igniter assembly includes a novel safety for arresting the motion of a slider when subjected to external forces, but allows slider motion when subjected to intended cable actuation forces. The igniter safety includes a housing, a slider, a cable and a sleeve. The slider, connected to the cable, is slidably received within the housing. The cable moves the slider by applying a cable force conventionally obtained by actuation of a parachute associated with the flare and connected to an end of the cable opposite an end connected to the slider. The sleeve is connected to the cable and is disposed between the housing and the slider, so that the sleeve will arrest the slider with respect to the housing when the cable force is not present. A flare and a method of providing a safety in an igniter assembly is also provided.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 2006Date of Patent: June 1, 2010Assignee: Alliant Techsystems Inc.Inventors: Kevin W. Richards, Kendall Dye, Robert G. Jones

Publication number: 20090308565Abstract: An open cart occupant cooling system is disclosed. The system includes a number of fan(s) each capable of delivering about 900 cfm of air flow, in a simulated 10 mph breeze, to the seating positions of the occupants. The fans are clamped to the cart roof struts, or other mounts, so as to direct a stream of cooling air toward the cart occupant(s). The fans are activated by a pressure or proximity sensitive switch upon an occupant alighting onto the seat of the cart. The cooling system can be retrofit with temporary hand operated clamps to mount the fans and be operated with either a plug in or self-contained rechargeable electrical supply and, if so desired, wired to a seat cushion operated pressure switch.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 11, 2009Publication date: December 17, 2009Inventors: Robert G. JONES, Billy W. Clayton

Publication number: 20070144319Abstract: A SCOR-GUIDE system comprises an extruded aluminum fence that is permanently fastened to a sliding bar clamp. The fence has a horizontally protruding tab on the side that is trimmed by the user to match the saw or router that will be used with it. A metal-cutting blade or bit is temporarily fitted in the power tool and used to cut the underlying tab the exact distance from the vertical part of the fence. The regular blades or bits are then returned to the power tool for normal use. Sheet materials can then be precisely cut along the straight line provided by the fence, and the prepared tab will protect the sheet material from marring and chipping during cutting.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 1, 2006Publication date: June 28, 2007Inventor: Robert G. Publication number: 20040173387Abstract: Apparatuses and methods of picking up items from a first location and selectively releasing those items at one of multiple desired second locations are provided in which an item is either pierced, clamped, or stuck to a gripper without using vacuum pressure to maintain the grasp between the item and the pickup device. In several embodiments the items are grasped by piercing probes such as an expandable needle, a barbed needle or a screw. In other embodiments the items are clamped by tweezers or a gear and fingers combination. In a final embodiment, an item is grasped by being frozen to a temperature controllable surface.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 29, 2003Publication date: September 9, 2004Inventors: Frank J. Publication number: 20010018815Abstract: A steel roof deck diaphragm to provide structural rigidity to a building wherein loads of varying intensity can cause movement of structural members, which tends to generate noise when two members rub or work against each other. Corrugated sheets of high tensile steel are supported from below and span the distance between purlins, the corrugated sheets having over-lapping side edges and end edges and upper and lower surfaces. Non-metallic strips of felt form spacers positioned between the over-lapping side edges and end edges to prevent generation of noise resulting from relative movement of the corrugated sheets.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 27, 2001Publication date: September 6, 2001Inventors: C. Lynn Nunley, Robert G. Jones, Joseph B. Shepard

Patent number: 5582884Abstract: The invention provides a peelable laminated structure suitable for use in a peelable seal joining a flexible closure element (23) to a container (20) or in foil/polymer laminates used for packaging and the like. The structure comprises a porous-anodizable metal substrate (11) and a porous anodic film (12) overlying and attached to a surface of the substrate. The porous anodic film (12) has a weakened stratum (19) positioned between an outer film part and an underlying structure including the metal substrate (11). The weakened stratum (19) is strong enough in use of said structure to prevent detachment of the outer film part from the underlying structure, except by deliberate peeling of the flexible closure element (23). The invention also relates to a process for producing the structure and to peelable containers and recyclable laminates incorporating the structure.Type: GrantFiled: February 1, 1994Date of Patent: December 10, 1996Assignee: Alcan International LimitedInventors: Melville D. Patent number: 5546723Abstract: A wood sill reinforcing plate for use with anchor bolts embedded in a concrete foundation and extending upward and a wood sill having openings which receive the outwardly extending anchor bolts. A plate member having an opening extending through the plate member and with the opening having a dimension slightly larger than the diameter of the anchor bolt. A plurality of gripper prongs integral with the plate member and extending in a direction substantially perpendicular to the plate member for embedding the gripper prongs into the wood sill to lock the plate member around the anchor bolt with the anchor bolt extending through the opening in the plate member.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 1993Date of Patent: August 20, 1996Assignee: Harlen Metal Products, Inc.Inventor: Robert G. Patent number: 5513476Abstract: A retrofit foundation system for bolting a sill plate to a foundation including, an upper piece member having a first upper portion for lying against the sill plate for bolting to the side of the sill plate and having a second portion extending outwardly from the side of the sill plate along the top of the foundation and extending past a side wall of the foundation. A lower piece member has a first lower portion for lying against the side of the foundation for bolting to the side of the foundation and has a second portion extending outwardly from the side of the foundation at the top of the foundation and with the outwardly extending portions of the upper piece member and the lower piece member lying adjacent to each other along a plane substantially parallel to the top of the foundation. The outwardly extending portions of the upper and lower piece members are attached together to transfer any external forces from the sill plate to the foundation.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 1993Date of Patent: May 7, 1996Assignee: Harlen Metal Products, Inc.Inventor: Robert G.
