  • Patent number: 4704799
Abstract: A method is provided for compensating for master gear error in a gear checking apparatus employing a preselected master gear and a fixture for mounting a test gear to be checked in mesh with the master gear. The method comprises mounting a test gear in mesh with the master gear, rotatably driving one of the master and test gears, and producing a test signal corresponding to the differential movement between the master gear and test gear during rotation caused by imperfections or irregularities in both of the gears.

  • Patent number: 4163884
Abstract: A U-shaped core for association with a discrete ferromagnetic adhesive carrying article wherein heat is generated in the article through the completion of a flux circuit between the legs of the core and the article. The core and the article abut one another through protuberances of limited area and height to reduce heat loss from the article back into the core. The subject matter of the instant application is related to that of copending application Ser. No. 837,350, filed of even date herewith and common assignee.

  • Patent number: 4163885
Abstract: An induction heating system for heating an adhesive coated metal article of an irregular shape including a U-shaped core associated with the metal article so that the article completes a magnetic flux circuit. The end faces of the core and the surface of the metal article being spaced a nonuniform distance by protuberances of unequal distance between the end faces and the article.

  • Patent number: 4139408
Abstract: This invention relates generally to an adhesive fastening device which includes a substantially flat base carrying on its undersurface a layer of heat activable adhesive. The fastening device may also include a section extending from the base designed as a secondary fastening feature, such as a stud, tab, clip or the like. Protuberances of limited surface area and height are formed adjacent the perimeter of the base in a pair of laterally spaced lines adapted to be associated with the end surfaces of a U-shaped core to slightly space the core from the base.

  • Patent number: 4128449
Abstract: A fixture for accurately applying discrete adhesive-backed articles to a support surface through the use of induction heat. Aligning and positioning means are associated with the faces of U-shaped cores to keep the end faces of the core in abutting relationship with the article being heated but permit the article and core combination to move slightly in compound direction to accommodate support surface variations or curvature.
