  • Publication number: 20160374218
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide hinging and latching hardware and arrangements for enclosures for electronic components. In one embodiment, first and second brackets can be secured to an enclosure frame on first and second sides, respectively, of a door opening. Both brackets can be configured to receive a hinge pin and engage a latching mechanism, such that the brackets can be hingedly secure the door to the enclosure and latch the closed with the door in at least two different orientations. In one embodiment, hinging and latching hardware for an enclosure can include a door wing configured to be secured to an enclosure door, and first and second frame wings configured to be secured to an enclosure frame on different sides of a door opening. The hardware can accordingly provide first and second hinging and latching configurations for the door, with the door in first and second orientations, respectively.

  • Patent number: 5666695
Abstract: A hinge includes a first leaf member with a pair of knuckles receiving a hinge pin therethrough. The knuckles include a retainer member which extends into the path of the pin. Annular grooves formed in the pin receive the retainer member to keep the pin from easily sliding in and out of the hinge. One of the grooves includes a straight side and a tapered side while the second groove includes a pair of tapered sides for allowing the retainer member to slide over the second groove but not over the first groove. In this manner, the pin may not be forced beyond the retainer member and is held in place even when pulled out of the first knuckle for removing secondly.

  • Patent number: 5407263
Abstract: A restructurable enclosure having a plurality of mounting blocks which are secured to the body of the enclosure at various spaced locations around and adjacent the outer peripheral portions of the door and wall panel openings therein. Each of the mounting blocks includes a plurality of threaded bores in the bottom surface thereof which communicate with openings in the enclosure body to facilitate permanent mounting of such blocks to the enclosure, and to facilitate attachment of sub-panels and other assemblies within the interior thereof, without obstructing the same. Each block also includes a pair of threaded or open bores extending inward from its outer mounting surface to facilitate mounting of the enclosure door or various wall panels to the enclosure solely from the exterior of the enclosure, without the need for accessing the interior thereof.

  • Patent number: 5292189
Abstract: A system for installing and properly positioning a sub-panel mounting board within a freestanding electrical enclosure, wherein the base sections of the enclosure frame form a continuous rectangular guide channel around the inner periphery of the enclosure which is designed to receive in opposite parallel channel segments thereof a pair of channel followers that are connected to opposite lower corners of the mounting board. Each channel follower has a depending leg which extends into its respective channel segment and supports the mounting board during installation thereof. The depending leg of each channel follower engages the bottom of the channel when the mounting board is tilted forward for installation within the enclosure. Once the mounting board is installed and positioned upright, each channel follower rests upon a mounting flange formed by the enclosure frame, thereby allowing the mounting board to be secured thereto.

  • Patent number: 5172944
Abstract: A multiple point latching system, for use with single or multi-door enclosures, which utilizes a plurality of combinational cam-pinion latch members which are rotatably mounted to the inside surface of the door and simultaneously driven by an elongated rack which extends between such latches and disconnectedly inter-engages therewith. Each combinational cam-pinion latch includes a plurality of teeth which disconnectedly inter-engage with apertures in the rack to cause simultaneous rotation thereof. A handle which is connected to the door and accessible from the exterior thereof drives one of the latch members which in turn causes movement of the rack and consequent rotation of all other combinational cam-pinion latches. Such latches are rotatably mounted at spaced locations along the free peripheral portions of the enclosure door.

The system includes pairs of vertically aligned forwardly positioned pins with the pins of a pair extending inwardly from opposite door dikes. Vertically aligned rearwardly positioned pins are also provided, with the pins in a pair extending inwardly from opposite door dikes at a distance from the door's rear wall that is less than the distance between the forwardly positioned pins and the door's rear wall. Large storage bins are provided with a hook on each of the bin's side walls wherein each of the hooks has a pin engaging ramp edge positioned to engage only a forwardly positioned pin.
