  • Patent number: 4656795
Abstract: A floor panel for use in elevated floor assemblies, having a unique flexible edge construction including a relatively thin, flexible strip extending around the entire perimeter of the panel and projecting laterally outwardly from contiguous side and end faces of the panel. Plural panels supported on spaced pedestals are disposed in side-by-side relation with adjacent side and end faces spaced from each other but with adjacent flexible strips in edge-overlapped relation.

  • Patent number: 4558544
Abstract: An adjustable pedestal adapted to support individually removable panel members in accurate, edge-aligned relation and in a common horizontal, that is level plane. The pedestal includes a head assembly supported on an upper end of a support. The head assembly includes a head member having a generally flat upper surface which is adjustable vertically, rotationally and laterally of the support rod. Abutment means adjustable along the support rod, is engaged by the head member and establishes a position of the head member wherein the upper surface resides in the horizontal plane. Clamping means clamps the head member to the support rod. Radially extending lugs extend above the upper surface of the head member. The arrangement is such that an adjacent pair of lugs of one pedestal cooperates with adjacent pairs of lugs from adjacent pedestals to define a panel supporting surface which is horizontal and which coincides with said horizontal plane.

  • Patent number: 4196554
Abstract: A joint between roof panels of the type comprising inner and outer skins connected in shear-transferring relation by an insulating core. The joint comprises male and female marginal connecting means formed along the upper edges of adjacent side walls presented by the outer skins of adjacent panels. The male and female connecting means are inter-nested, the female connecting means is bent, that is, closed about the male connecting means thereby to provide a primary interlocking connection of the standing seam type. A sealant engaging the male and female connecting means provides a primary weathertight seal at the exposed surface of the roof structure. Complementary mating elements may be formed along adjacent inner edges of the adjacent composite panels to provide a second connection at the interior face of the roof structure.

  • Patent number: 4195460
Abstract: A composite roof panel comprising inner and outer skins which are connected in shear-transferring relation by an insulating core. The outer skin presents marginal connecting means, a first of which is adapted to receive and to be bent, i.e., closed, about a second connecting means of an adjacent panel to provide a standing seam connection at the exterior face of the roof structure. During closure, the first connecting means is bent in one direction and experiences only minor bending stresses. Hence, a large number of different types of decorative coating materials can be applied to the outer skin. The inner skin presents complementary mating elements which provide a connection between adjacent panels at the interior face of the roof structure. Means adapting the panel to be erected in end-to-end overlapped relation and in side-by-side interlocked relation is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4187275
Abstract: A method and apparatus for forming shaped articles from glass fiber reinforced gypsum. An aqueous slurry of gypsum hemi-hydrate, water and glass fibers contains between 22 and 45 parts by weight water, 100 parts by weight gypsum hemi-hydrate and 3 to 10 parts by weight glass fiber. The slurry is deposited as a continuous ribbon on a moving, water-impermeable formable sheet which is pre-shaped and thereafter the slurry ribbon is pressed into a desired profile. The formable sheet and slurry ribbon are maintained in the desired profile until the slurry sets. Thereafter the product ribbon is cut transversely into lengths as desired. The formable sheet may be removed before cutting, or may be retained in engagement with the product ribbon during and after cutting to serve as a protective cover for the surface of the article. The process and apparatus are especially adapted to produce liner sheets for building construction panels.

  • Patent number: 4012873
Abstract: Protective covers for outlet openings of an underfloor access housing are provided to prevent ingress through the outlet opening of a subsequently poured layer of floor fill, such as concrete. The protective covers are enveloped by the floor fill and have upper peripheral edges spaced below the upper surface of the floor fill by up to 13/4 inches (44.5 mm). A release coating is interposed between the protective cover and the floor fill to facilitate separation of the covering floor fill.

  • Patent number: 3932696
Abstract: An underfloor access housing adapted for use with cellular flooring units of the type normally placed in building floors, and which provide plural cells separated by troughs. The access housing presents a dual outlet opening in its top wall, spans across a trough, and is secured to the crests of adjacent cells. Trough closures positioned on opposite sides of the access housing, enclose a trough space accessible through the dual outlet opening. Cell access openings provided in the webs of the flooring unit establish communication between the cells and the trough space. A partition divides the interiors of the housing and of the trough space into separate compartments, each including one of the cell access openings and one including the dual outlet opening. The partition is adapted to support at least one electrical plug receptacle whereby electrical connections may be made beneath the level of the finished floor.
