The side walls and the floor cooperatively define a substantially rectangular cavity (24) therebetween. A plurality of passageways (26) is defined in the floor for receiving a corresponding number of electrical contacts (3) therein. Each contact includes an arm (30) extending beyond the floor for contacting with corresponding contacting pad of the LGP (4). All the arms extend in a plurality of rows, parallel to one diagonal of the floor, and the arms in a same row are arranged side by side. Each passage includes an upper receiving portion extending into an adjacent passage in the same line, therefore, the passages in the same line are stringed, and a continuous support member is formed between two rows of stringed passages.

One of the sidewalls fabricates a receiving channel (1220) substantially parallel to an upper surface of the recessed area and a fastening channel (1222) substantially perpendicularly communicating with the receiving channel. A bolt (16) is screwed in the fastening channel. When the IC socket is used, a sensor (20) is received in the receiving channel and restricted in the proper position by the bolt screwed in the fastening channel.

The connector assembly includes a socket and a fastening device surrounding the socket. The fastening device includes a frame (2), a metal clip (3) pivotably mounted to a first end of the frame, and a cam actuator (4) pivitably mounted to a second end of the frame. The clip includes a post (3211) at a free end (32) thereof. The cam actuator includes a cam (41) defining a spiral groove (413) receiving the post and a driver (42) assembled to the cam. When the cam is driven, it drives the post downwardly, and simultaneously the clip moves slightly toward the second end of the frame. In addition, the driver at all times remains substantially within the confines of the main body of the frame.

The heat sink includes a jacket (61) attached on the IC. The jacket defines a U-shaped channel for containing cooling liquid therein. The actuation member is capable of being operated from an open position to a closed position, in which the jacket abuts against a top surface of the IC and the IC is reliably electrically connected with the burn-in board. During burning in, the jacket can quickly efficiently dissipate heat from the IC and associated components the protect the IC from instability and damage.

The frame has four sidewalls (110, 113, 114, 115) defining a central cavity (111) therebetween for receiving the LGA chip therein. Two adjacent of the sidewalls define a plurality of cutouts (1110, 1130) in respective inner faces thereof, corresponding to the protrusions respectively. The frame is mounted on the housing, with the protrusions being engagingly received in the corresponding cutouts. When the LGA chip is engaged with the connector, the protrusions elastically deform to accurately guide and securely fix the LGA chip in the connector.
