  • Patent number: 5268540
Abstract: A sound absorbing noise barrier panel has a precast reinforced concrete skin with a series of integral horizontal reinforcing ribs that provide a structurally strong panel that will resist wind loading and other requirements. The ribs form compartments on one surface of the panel skin which are filled with a sound absorbing material. A metal screen protective mesh is used to cover the compartments containing the sound absorbing material A decorative fabric is placed over the mesh and a protective decorative glass reinforced concrete lattice is used to finish the panel, resulting in a noise reduction coefficient of 0.95 to 1.0.

  • Patent number: 5218805
Abstract: A monolithic reinforced precast concrete post and base assembly is provided for mounting on an in-ground concrete pier having four bolts extending upwardly therefrom to register with four holes in the post and base assembly with the upper ends threaded so that the post and base assembly can be bolted onto and fastened to the in-ground pier. The posts have integral nailing strips for allowing the fastening of sound barrier panels to the posts and the posts are reinforced precast concrete having the necessary strength to withstand the wind-loading and other factors for the particular location of the installation. A sound barrier wall is provided by mounting the post and base assemblies at regular spaced intervals and affixing the sound barrier panels to the posts in either offset or aligned configuration.

  • Patent number: 5119614
Abstract: A concrete post and panel noise barrier in which the opposed side walls of the post contain vertical grooves for slidably receiving the panels. Each post further contains two parallel rows of vertically disposed reinforcing bars positioned adjacent the front and back walls of the post. The two rows of reinforcing bars are further strengthened by horizontally disposed connector units that include an endless tie rod positioned between the grooves that loops around at least one bar in each row and a pair of stirrup wires that pass around the outside of the rows of reinforcing bars. The ends of each stirrup wire are turned inward about the end bars in the row and are crossed over each other before being brought into engagement with the tie rod.
