  • Patent number: 6997347
Abstract: An apparatus and method for generating a low concentration of gas within a carrier gas flow employing one or more miniature one-piece cylinders filled under pressure with a pure gas, or a concentrated gas balanced with an inert gas or gas mixture. Released from the cylinder through a pierced or other controlled opening, the flow of the gas is regulated by a pressure regulator and a micro orifice to be blended into a steady stream of diluent gas, typically ambient air, to form a desired gas concentration. No gas is generated if the pressure of the gas in the cylinder, which is monitored constantly by a pressure transducer, is below a predetermined level. The apparatus can be built into a portable device, or an automated docking station (or calibration station) for testing and calibrating gas detection and monitoring instruments, or into a fixed gas detection system for performing such functions.

  • Patent number: 6179054
Abstract: A slotted gas separator for a down hole pump has an internal baffle that is angled to push the oil down into the chamber and the gas up to be released. The baffle has a roughened surface area with small, grainy protrusions that result in a jagged, coarse surface to agitate the liquid-gas mixture and separate out any gas. The large surface area of the baffle insures maximum contact to separate the oil and gas. The gas is released through slots on the top of the casing.

  • Patent number: 4841356
Abstract: The disclosed fuse has a tube of insulation, terminals at the ends of the tube, a link connecting the terminals, and a granular filler. At least one end cap is made of sheet metal which has one or more integrally extending tabs and a respective hole for each tab, each tab and its hole having the same size and shape. Granular fill is introduced via said hole(s) while the tab(s) are raised to provide wide openings. The end cap is sealed by driving the tab(s) into the hole(s). After the fuse contains granular filler but before driving the tab(s) into the hole(s), the fuse may be impregnated with a fluid, first adjusting the tab(s) to be narrowly open to retain the granular filler while admitting the impregnant.
