  • Patent number: 6610922
Abstract: An apparatus for securing an electromagnetic shield in a conductive, casing includes a conductive frame, spring devices on a first edge of the frame that secure an electromagnetic shield in the frame and electrically couple the shield to the frame, and spring devices on a second edge of the frame that secure the frame in an aperture through a conductive casing and electrically couple the frame to the casing. An electromagnetic shielding apparatus includes a conductive frame, an electromagnetic shield of conductive material formed into cells, and spring devices on the frame that hold the shield in the frame and electrically couple the shield to the frame.

  • Patent number: 6283777
Abstract: Embodiments of this invention provide for a versatile connector that is capable of receiving any one of two types of connectors. The connector is preferably positioned on a bottom edge of a handheld computer to receive either pogo style or wiping style connectors. As a result, the connector enables the handheld computer to connect with accessory devices that use either style connectors. In particular, the handheld computer can connect with communication cradles using wiping style connectors, or smaller accessory devices that use pogo style connectors.

  • Patent number: 5513637
Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining accurately, both during and after insertion, the full length position of catheters (including implanted ports), tubes and placement guidewires within biological tissue is disclosed including a transmitter/detector unit having an alternating current (AC) radio-frequency (RF) transmitter with antenna and a radio signal transmitter in the form of a continuous or segmented fine wire receiving antenna situated along the full length of the catheter, guidewire, and implanted port assemblies. The guidewire apparatus also includes a tip antenna. These antennae are connected by a removable clip to a wide-band RF detector circuit, situated within the transmitter/detector unit. The RF transmitter/detector circuit provides a voltage output that is a direct function of the relative spatial proximity of the transmitting antenna. This proximity is displayed visually to the operator using a sequential linear LED array whose sensitivity is controlled by a gain control knob.

  • Patent number: 5375596
Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining accurately, both during and after insertion, the full length position of catheters (including implanted ports (64)), tubes (30) and placement guidewires (22) within biological tissue is disclosed including a transmitter/detector unit (2) having an alternating current (AC) radio-frequency (RF) transmitter with antenna (14), and a radio signal transmitter in the form of a continuous or segmented fine wire receiving antenna (28, 32, 74) situated along the full length of the catheter, guidewire, and implanted port assemblies (22, 30, 64). The guidewire apparatus also includes a tip antenna. These antennae are connected by a removable clip (18) to a wide-band RF detector circuit, situated within the transmitter/detector unit (2). The RF transmitter/detector circuit provides a voltage output that is a direct function of the relative spatial proximity of the transmitting antenna.
