  • Patent number: 8499602
Abstract: Hollow decorative tubing fabricated from thin walled metallic stock material, the stock material preferably being stock tubing. Tubing is cold worked to impart any desired design such as simulated bamboo having realistic culm and node characteristics. The tubing is preferably formed into serial or repeating sections, each characterized by the desired design. For simulated bamboo, a realistic node is worked into the tubing between adjacent sections. The invention may be regarded as a method for manufacturing the resultant elongate hollow decorative tubing or, alternatively, an article of manufacture such as a chair incorporating the resultant elongate simulated bamboo article.

  • Publication number: 20090173486
Abstract: A gas heat pump system powered by natural gas, propane or similar gaseous fuel is disclosed. The system uses heat recovery and heat addition to manage efficient heating and cooling cycles. In a cooling cycle excess heat is vented to the atmosphere while in a heating cycle, excess heat is used to heat a subject structure and to prevent frost from forming on outdoor heat exchangers. A control system monitors the system's operation and corrects abnormal operational conditions or shuts down the system until the system can be manually inspected. The costs of system operation are less than electric systems because of the efficiencies and use of natural gas or propane.

  • Patent number: 7281767
Abstract: A lounge chair having movable armrests. The lounge chair comprises a seat, a back, legs and armrests. The armrests may be placed in a raised position for use by the occupant or may be swing down to provide more room or to allow the occupant to easily exit the lounge chair. The armrests are preferably attached to each other such that moving one arm to the lowered position simultaneously moved the other arm to the lowered position.

  • Publication number: 20070213649
Abstract: An apparatus for stabilizing movement of an ankle comprises in one embodiment a flexible body member for receiving a foot and a stiffening unit secured to selected portions of the body member such that the stiffening unit minimizes movement of upper portions of the body member with respect to lower portions of the body member, without obstructing forward and rearward movement of the upper portions of the body member with respect to the lower portions of the body member.

  • Patent number: 6983987
Abstract: Simulated bamboo fabricated from thin walled metallic stock material, the stock material preferably being stock tubing. Tubing is cold worked to impart realistic culm and node characteristics. The tubing is preferably formed into serial or repeating sections, each characterized by gradual, progressive curvature at each end of the respective section to simulate natural bamboo culms. A realistic node is worked into the tubing between adjacent sections. The invention may be regarded as the resultant elongate simulated bamboo article or, alternatively, an article of manufacture such as a chair incorporating the resultant elongate simulated bamboo article.

  • Publication number: 20050020951
Abstract: An apparatus for stabilizing movement of the patella in the patellofemoral joint comprises in one embodiment a base having an opening, a buttress secured to the base sheet member, a tensioning member secured to the base sheet member, a pair of tensioning arms secured to the buttress, a pair of tensioning arms secured to the tensioning member, a pair of compression members formed from the base, and a stabilizing member secured to an edge of the base. A method of stabilizing movement of the patella in the patellofemoral joint during physical activities comprises in one embodiment the steps of positioning a support brace having an opening against the knee, extending a portion of the brace against the knee to apply a first force against portions of the knee in the opening, and extending another portion of the brace against the knee to apply a second force against the knee.

  • Publication number: 20020084687
Abstract: A sling chair having side rails which connect to a cross member spanning the side rails. Each side rail has an extension bearing a socket which accepts insertion of one end of the cross member. The chair has a fabric seating member retained conventionally to the side rails. The cross member and side rails provide both a structural frame for the sling chair as well as a frame for the fabric seating member. The novel construction reduces the traditional redundant separate chair and sling frames to one frame.
