  • Patent number: 8442077
Abstract: A method and apparatus of automatically identifying IMA links of an asynchronous transfer mode network and automatically configuring a distributed network analyzer to monitor the identified IMA links. Information is selectively extracted from streams of cell data exchanged across an asynchronous transfer mode network to automatically identify IMA links of the asynchronous transfer mode network, and automatically configuring a distributed network analyzer to monitor the identified IMA links. A graphical user interface is provided to display status information of the automatically identified IMA links of an asynchronous transfer mode network based on monitoring of the identified IMA links using a distributed network analyzer automatically configured to monitor the identified IMA links.

  • Patent number: 7830893
Abstract: A system for reassembling asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) data in real time is disclosed. In one embodiment, the system for reassembling ATM data in real time comprises a circular buffer for storing ATM data, the ATM data comprising information divided into cells, and a plurality of parallel processing elements configured to analyze the ATM cells and determine a cell type, wherein ATM adaptation layer (AAL) 2 cells and AAL 5 cells are reassembled in real-time.

  • Patent number: 7710891
Abstract: A concentrator multiplexes network data from different links in a network and carried on a plurality of lower speed lines into multiplexed network data carried on a higher speed line. A line interface module demultiplexes the multiplexed network data carried on the higher speed line, assembles the demultiplexed network data into cells, and reassembles cells into packets for analysis. A single distributed network analyzer analyzes the reassembled network data.

  • Patent number: 7630318
Abstract: A universal mobile telephony system (UMTS) network monitoring system for capturing intercepted UMTS data. ATM cells from a UTRAN interface may be intercepted. The UTRAN interface may be an lu interface, an lur interface, or an lub interface, which are, respectively, interfaces between a core network (CN) of the UTRAN and a radio network controller (RNC) of the UTRAN, an interface between RNCs of the UTRAN, and an interface between a Node B of the UTRAN and an RNC of the UTRAN. The ATM cells may be reassembled into UMTS packets of the UTRAN, among which user plane packets may be segregated from control plane UMTS packets based on fields and bytes of the reassembled UMTS packets. The control plane packets may be stored to a non-volatile storage medium of the network monitoring system or processed in real time and results thereof displayed graphically.

  • Patent number: 7548562
Abstract: A packet data capture apparatus, method and a computer readable medium having instructions recorded thereon, stream data packets in real time. The apparatus includes: a buffer, to store a plurality of data packets until transmission; a macro-packet transmitter, to prepare macro-packets from the stored plurality of packets and operate in a UDP mode that includes a predetermined re-transmit and flow control protocol; and a processor, to stream the macro-packets to a computer/server or storage device in real time and to retransmit respective macro-packets of the stream of macro-packets via the re-transmit and flow control protocol in accordance with a request from the computer/server.

  • Patent number: 7535923
Abstract: A multiport concentrator concentrates network data from different links in a network and carried on a plurality of lower speed lines into a stream of data carried on a higher speed line. A measurement system determines network statistics from the stream of data carried by the higher speed line.

  • Publication number: 20080301285
Abstract: In one embodiment, data carried by a plurality of data tributaries is received. As the data is received, a stored mapping of data tributaries to one or more tributary sets is accessed, and common data tags are assigned to the data carried by ones of the data tributaries mapped to common ones of the one or more tributary sets. The data based on the common data tags is filtered; the filtered data is analyzed; and a result of the analysis is output. Other embodiments are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7460541
Abstract: A method and apparatus to monitor and analyze inverse multiplexing over asynchronous transfer mode (IMA) links of an asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) network; and determine statistics regarding cells transmitted through the IMA links. An operational status of one or more individual links of one or more monitored groups of IMA links is also determined. An apparatus to determine statistics regarding one or more IMA multiplexed links of an ATM network includes one or more IMA link pre-processors to process cells from the respective one or more IMA links according to a type of the cells; a select and collapse unit to select which of the one or more IMA links to receive the processed cells from, and collapse the processed cells of the selected IMA links into one stream; and an aligner to receive the one stream of processed cells from the select and collapse unit and determine statistics regarding the processed cells of the one stream.
