Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are directed to caster assemblies for providing mobility and facilitating movement of objects. The caster assemblies include a swivel assembly secured to a wheel assembly, the swivel assembly allowing the wheel of the caster assembly to rotate in clockwise and counterclockwise directions. A locking mechanism, having a sliding member, in the swivel assembly engages with one or more holes in a novel cam for limiting a rotation range of the cam, the sliding member configured to engage and disengage the one or more holes in the cam.
