Publication number: 20230304985Abstract: A system and method for identifying different types of produce at checkout based on an odor emitted by the produce is provided herein. An olfactometer is used to detect chemical compounds contributing to an odor of the produce at checkout. Based on the detected odor, an odor profile is constructed and compared to one or more baseline odor profiles stored in memory. Based on the comparison results, a freshness date for the produce is determined provided to a device associated with the shopper. So informed, the shopper is aware of how long the produce will be considered fresh. Additionally, one or more reminder messages may be sent to a device associated with the shopper reminding them of the freshness date for the produce they purchased.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 22, 2022Publication date: September 28, 2023Inventors: Susan W. Patent number: 9424601Abstract: Method, computer program product, and system to facilitate a checkout transaction for a person within an environment having a plurality of items. The method includes determining, using a visual sensor disposed within the environment, image information associated with the person. The method further includes analyzing the image information to identify one or more of the plurality of items that are selected by the person to be presented during the checkout transaction. In some cases, the method also includes determining whether the identified items belong to a predetermined class of items deemed to be “difficult.” The method further includes determining, based on the one or more identified items, a level of assistance to provide to the person during the checkout transaction.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 2015Date of Patent: August 23, 2016Assignee: TOSHIBA GLOBAL COMMERCE SOLUTIONS HOLDINGS CORPORATIONInventors: Susan Winter Brosnan, Daniel Robert Goins, Patricia Stephany Hogan, David Christopher Klages, Jessica Suzanne King Snead

Publication number: 20110043535Abstract: A bitmap may be transformed from one color scheme to another. In one example, the bitmap is used as part of a user interface (UI), and the colorization is performed to reflect a user's (or some other entity's) choice of color scheme. To perform the colorization, a bitmap may be converted from the red-green-blue (RGB) color space to the hue-saturation-lightness (HSL) color space. The hue may then be rotated toward the selected color scheme. Lightness and alpha (opacity) may be gamma-adjusted toward the selected color scheme. Saturation may be linearly adjusted upward or downward in the direction of the selected color scheme. The transformed HSL representation of the image may then be converted from the HSL space back to the RGB space. The new RGB bitmap may then be used to render one or more UI elements.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 18, 2009Publication date: February 24, 2011Applicant: MICROSOFT CORPORATIONInventors: Paul J. Patent number: 4472064Abstract: Particulate materials are blended in a vessel provided with a plurality of vertically extending conduits therein. The vessel comprises a downwardly converging frustoconically shaped bottom wall which defines the lower region of the vessel. The conduits are provided with opening within the upper region of the vessel and the lower ends of the conduits extend through the bottom wall, each commmunicating via a corresponding inclined conduit with a solids outlet at the open bottom of the bottom wall. At least one drain conduit communicates between a corresponding opening in the bottom wall and a corresponding inclined conduit. A baffle is disposed within the vessel separating the upper and lower regions and comprises a downwardly converging inverted generally conical portion spaced above the bottom wall and defining therebetween a downwardly converging annular passage.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 1982Date of Patent: September 18, 1984Assignee: Phillips Petroleum CompanyInventor: Robert Goins
