  • Patent number: 5097636
Abstract: A swingable dust hood is provided for use in the dust removal system of an endless belt type working machine. The dust hood has a jet air cleaner positioned on an inner wall which blows dust and other particles off the workpiece for exhaust via an outlet connected to the dust hood. A pivot rod is fixed to the outer shell of the dust hood and is rotatably journalled in a pivot receptacle bracketed to the machine support table. The hood can accordingly be positioned in three primary positions; namely, a first position wherein the hood completely encases a roll when the workpiece does not extend past the form platen; a second position wherein the hood partially encloses the piece when the workpiece is extended past the platen; and a third position wherein the hood is swung back to completely expose the drive roll to permit changing or repair of the endless belt and/or the roll.

  • Patent number: 5092081
Abstract: A form block holder is provided for an endless belt type working machine such as a sander. Positioning of the block relative to the belt is provided in five distinct directions, i.e., up/down, forwards/backwards, yaw, pitch and roll, by a series of adjustments of interconnected shafts and sleeves. A float mode is also provided which yields to forces that tend to rotate the form block about an axis parallel to the belt travel and parallel with a support table, i.e., the pitch axis. A first end float shaft is surrounded by a support sleeve at one portion and is threadingly received in a handle. The remainder of the float shaft is surrounded by a cam sleeve comprising a first cam sleeve section ultimately connected to the form block holder and a second cam sleeve section. A spring biased washer is provided within the support sleeve about the float shaft and abuts the second cam sleeve section. To establish the float mode, a gap is provided between the support sleeve and the second cam sleeve section.

  • Patent number: 4926602
Abstract: A belt sanding apparatus has an endless abrasive belt trained over both a drive and a driven roll for finishing a workpiece, the rolls being mounted on the apparatus frame for rotation about fixed upstanding axes. A side and/or end workpiece support table is mounted on the frame for four-way adjustment relative to the belt. An elongated support bracket plate is provided for mounting each table to the frame for pivotal movement about a transverse tilt axis. Guide rods on the table engage the bracket plate for vertical sliding movement and for effecting pivotal movement of the table about the transverse tilt axis. A turnscrew or the like is provided on the bracket for vertically moving the table relative to the belt, the table being connected to the guide rods for moving the table both along a horizontal plane toward and away from the belt and about a longitudinal roll axis, such that the table is capable of vertical, horizontal, tilt and roll adjustments relative to the belt.
