  • Patent number: 6047931
Abstract: A support base made of bamboo culms is provided. Culms forming legs for support are cut to form a flat surface on the ends of culms contacting a floor. Holes are drilled through the culms at selected distances and angles so as to allow the culms to form a support having a waist. The structure is supported by wires, cord, rope or similar members through the holes that are placed in tension when a load is applied to the base. Spacers, preferably of bamboo culms having a smaller diameter than the legs, are placed over the wires between legs of the base.

  • Patent number: 5916105
Abstract: Bamboo panels and method for forming from bamboo culms and rods are provided. Curved culms from clump bamboo having holes in a selected plane are placed on rods having diameters slightly smaller than the holes, such that forces on the tough skin of bamboo culms are used to hold the culms in a straight or other selected configuration. The panels may be used in fences, furniture, walls and other structures.

  • Patent number: 5675951
Abstract: Bamboo molding or trim is provided from the interior of bamboo culms. The bamboo is divided into pieces which may be laminated to form workpieces from which the molding or trim is formed. Selected cross-sections, spindles and other forms are provided. The bamboo may be treated for resistance to decay or to increase dimensional stability.

  • Patent number: 5636577
Abstract: Pallets for storage or movement of goods are provided having bamboo members. Split bamboo forms cross-members and successive layers as part of the two major surfaces of pallets. Bamboo culms are used for beams of a pallet or as components in a post-type structure. Frames of split bamboo may be fastened and removed from beams or posts of bamboo to allow more compact movement of pallets not in use. Elongated posts of bamboo culms may be used to join individual pallets for multi-deck pallets.
