  • Patent number: 5064713
Abstract: An elastomeric adhesive composition useful in resurfacing applications is provided. The composition includes a liquid dispersion of a polar latex resin binder, a chemical plasticizer, a volatile glycol ether solvent and a thickening agent. The binder is an emulsion of water and a polyvinyl acetate homopolymer with a polyvinyl alcohol protective colloid and is present in a concentration effective in adhering a resurfacing fabric to a surface wetted with the composition. The chemical plasticizer acts to plasticize and tackify the latex resin binder. The thickening agent is present in an amount effective to modify the viscosity of the composition so that it will not flow once applied to a surface. In addition, the invention comprehends a resurfacing composition and a method of resurfacing.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 14, 1991
Date of Patent: November 12, 1991
    Assignee: Lindsay Finishes, Inc.
Inventors: Donald C. DuLaney, Robert H. Lindsay

  • Patent number: 4782109
Abstract: A paint comprising a solution of an internal phase comprising pigment and latex resin and an external phase comprising an amine soluble resin dissolved in water is disclosed. The amine soluble resin has a molecular weight sufficiently high that it imparts desirable film properties while maintaining surface applicability of the paint. Upon evaporation of the water, the external phase forms a substantially continuous film encapsulating the internal phase. The invention also comprehends a novel method of paint formulation.

  • Patent number: 4595415
Abstract: A drier catalyst for use in coating compositions which contain polyunsaturated oils comprises a coordination complex of tri n-octylphosphine oxide and the manganese salt of a hydrocarbon-soluble carboxylic acid, such as octoic acid. The catalyst is unaffected by the presence of zinc compounds or iron in the coating composition.
