  • Publication number: 20040170947
Abstract: A dental implant and bone preservation and regeneration arrangement and method of implementation is disclosed. The dental implant arrangement includes an implant body screwed into a patient's alveolar bone. An abutment on the implant body collar portion receives a crown. The implant body, the abutment, the crown, the implant body/abutment junction or the abutment/crown junction includes a “macro-feature” such as a “macro-gap” or “macro-protrusion” large enough to encourage gingival tissue growth in and/or around the feature. The growth prevents oral bacteria from getting below the level of the macro-feature. The arrangement reduces bone loss and encourages bone regeneration. The macro-feature can be progressively repositioned to regenerate bone.

  • Patent number: 6171107
Abstract: An adhesive for bonding items includes magnetic particles dispersed therein. Removal is enhanced by applying varying magnetic fields near the adhesive. Magnetic locking elements are biased to engage a catch portion. Removal is effected by urging the magnetic elements out of the catch portion by application of magnetic fields of opposite polarity.

  • Patent number: 5704788
Abstract: A dental implant is formed of an implant fixture for installation in the jawbone, an abutment secured non-rotationally to the implant fixture by interengaging connector components, and a coping screw removably securing the implant fixture and abutment together. To prevent unintended loosening of the coping screw, the non-circular shank of a locking member is inserted in a correspondingly shaped bore in the coping screw and laterally extending locking keys on the head of the locking member are captured in longitudinal grooves in the abutment, whereby the coping screw is secured positively against loosening.

  • Patent number: 5302122
Abstract: An articulated arm has a post on one end that guides a handpiece at a selected angle. The other end of the arm has a bore capable of supporting the arm at this other end in cantilevered arrangement on a base fitted in a hole drilled in the jaw that has been made to receive an implant or a base on a non-implant appliance. The articulated arm has at least two pivotally connected identical links that maintain the handpiece in parallel relation with the base whereby in the method of the invention implants can be installed that are parallel with each other or with a non-implant base.
