Abstract: This invention discloses improved venting of dies in molding of thermoset plastic molding compounds wherein said invention consists of a vent system comprising a vent extending from a molding die to a vent well and said vent well venting to the atmosphere. This can be depicted as: die to vent well to atmosphere.

Abstract: In molding of plastic materials, particularly thermoset compounds, venting of dies is essential to obtain well molded parts, and this invention discloses improved venting of dies in molding of thermoset plastic compounds wherein a vent path 4 vents from the die into a vent well 3, said vent well comprises a wedge shape having a transition angle of 10.degree. to 35.degree. and a vent extension 6 extending from said vent well 3, to the atmosphere.

Abstract: There is described, apparatus and method for runnerless transfer molding of thermoset compounds, comprising feeding plasticized compound directly into dies through gates and nozzles by means provided to transfer plasticized compound extrudate into a cylinder to be forced by a ram directly into the dies through nozzles and gates, and wherein cured compound in the cylinder may be readily withdrawn from said cylinder by withdrawal of the ram from said cylinder, and cured sprue of compound removed from said ram.
