  • Patent number: 7204790
Abstract: An inclined monorail mounts between an adjustable front stanchion and lower rear stanchion. A roller carriage, having a padded bench or seat and spool-shaped rollers, rolls on the monorail. Elasticized tension straps attach between the roller carriage and the front or the rear stanchion to assist or resist the movement of the roller carriage. The user pulls on interchangeable handles either on pull straps on a front bar or a cable pulley system attached to the front stanchion and to the roller carriage to exercise and simulate various sports movements while moving the roller carriage. The stanchions pivot flat onto the monorail to transport the apparatus on a stanchion wheel or mount it vertically on a wall bracket and the cable pulley system lifts the roller carriage vertically with weights on the roller carriage. A detachable foot platform attaches to the rear stanchion for performing leg exercises.

  • Publication number: 20020132706
Abstract: An exercise machine has a height adjustable front stanchion assembly with a telescoping tube having a quick release locking mechanism and a lower rear stanchion assembly. An inclined monorail is mounted between the stanchion assemblies, and a roller carriage assembly having spool-shaped rollers, is mounted so as to receive the monorail, and roll upon it. Alternately larger roller carriage rollers roll within channels in the monorail. Any of variously tensioned straps is attachable between the roller carriage and either the front stanchion assembly or the rear stanchion assembly to assist or resist the movement of the roller carriage assembly up the inclined monorail. The roller carriage is adapted so that a padded bench assembly and a bicycle seat assembly may be interchangeably rigidly secured to the roller carriage assembly. A rigid bar mounted on the front stanchion retains pull straps grasped by a user to pull the user mounted on the roller carriage up the inclined monorail.

  • Patent number: 5354251
Abstract: A roller carriage with paired upper and lower rollers rides on an adjustable inclined monorail. A tension cord connects the carriage to a rear stanchion. Pull cables wind around one-way clutch drivers which drive a rotating shaft, wherein a tension means connected to the one-way clutch drivers rewinds the pull cables to an initial position after extension. The rotating shaft has ergometric input-responsive resistance devices on the shaft. Choices of resistance include a centrifugal clutch, a variable opening encased vaned flywheel, a band brake, a centrifugal brake, a wind load, a water load, an eddy current load, and a variable speed electric motor resistance. Interchangeable body supports are mounted on the roller carriage. A laterally tilting padded swim bench is used with swim paddles attached to the pull cables. A pair of pivoting leg supports may be attached to the padded swim bench to pull another pair of cables attached to the same system.

  • Patent number: 5328427
Abstract: Foot pads with foot straps are mounted to roller carriages which roll along a horizontal monorail with stationary middle supports and telescoping end supports. A rotatable shaft attached to one of the end supports is attached to an ergometric input-responsive variable resistance. Each of two cables wound around a spring-loaded retractable one-way clutch driver on the rotatable shaft connects to each of the foot pads. Stepper pedals hinged to the end support opposite the rotating shaft are each attached by a cable wound around the rotatable shaft. A long front rail with sliding hand grips and a short side rail are detachably mounted. A nordic double poling attachment may be mounted midway on the front rail with cables wound over pulleys and around the rotatable shaft. The platform is hinged in the center to fold in half for storage and transportation. A stationary foot pad is positioned adjacent to the hinges, and also serves as a stop for the moving foot pads.

  • Patent number: 5029848
Abstract: An exercise machine has a front stanchion assembly and a rear stanchion assembly. An inclined monorail is mounted between the stanchion assemblies, and a roller carriage assembly having spool-shaped rollers, is mounted so as to receive the monorail, and roll upon it. The roller carriage is adapted so that a bicycle seat assembly (for use in cross country ski simulation) and a swim bench assembly may be interchangeably rigidly secured to the roller carriage assembly. The monorail may be attached to the front and rear stanchion using a telescoping sleeve to permit adjustment of the monorail orientation.
