  • Patent number: 4749616
Abstract: In a heat sealable coating composition for application to a polymer film wherein the composition contains (a) a film-forming aqueous latex based on an interpolymer or blend one or more acrylate esters and, optionally, one or more alpha, beta ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acids, (b) inorganic particulate hot slip agent and (c) wax-containing cold slip agent, an improvement is provided which comprises the presence therein of such an aqueous latex in which the average particle size of the interpolymer component is from about 0.03 to about 0.5 microns.

  • Patent number: 4438176
Abstract: The present invention relates to thermoplastic films such as polypropylene and more particularly to bi-axially oriented polypropylene which are characterized by having excellent anti-static properties and good resistance to the transmission of oxygen and moisture vapor. These properties are achieved by the application of a thin primer layer containing poly (ethylenimine) to corona discharge treated oriented polypropylene film followed by the application of an aqueous dispersion of a vinylidene chloride multipolymer containing a water soluble polyol such as a low molecular weight glycol or a poly (ethylene oxide) adduct of a nonpolar molecule.

Date of Patent: March 20, 1984
    Assignee: Mobil Oil Corporation
Inventors: Robert H. Steiner, Robert E. Touhsaent
  • Patent number: 4214039
Abstract: Thermoplastic films, such as polypropylene, are coated with a vinylidene chloride based multipolymer to enhance the physical properties of such films. The coating is anchored to the base film by first applying a primer coating directly on the film surface, which primer coating comprises a water dispersed epoxy resin composition.
