  • Publication number: 20050055944
Abstract: A block has a finished surface that provides an attractive appearance. The block is relatively large in size, allowing the quick construction of a wall, such as a retaining wall, using the block. The block includes one or more lift and alignment devices in the block that allow the block to be lifted using a suitable lifting apparatus, such as a crane, forklift, backhoe, etc. The block includes one or more recessed portions in the bottom surface of the block positioned to receive the protruding lift and alignment device of a previously-laid block underneath, thereby helping to align the block with the previously-laid block. The block includes one or more voids that extend from the top surface to the bottom surface of the block, and that align with each other when the blocks are stacked into a wall, thereby allowing fill material to be placed in the voids to strengthen the wall. The preferred embodiments also include a wall system with various different blocks that may be used to build a wall.

  • Publication number: 20040249419
Abstract: An external defibrillator is customized for at least one person, i.e., an anticipated patient, through creation of a profile for the anticipated patient that allows the defibrillator and users of the defibrillator to provide customized treatment to the patient. The profile may include treatment parameters for the anticipated patient, such as defibrillation therapy parameters selected for the patient. The profile may also include a baseline recording of a physiological parameter of the patient, and medical history and personal information regarding the patient. In some embodiments, the external defibrillator stores a profile for each of one or more anticipated patients within a memory. In other embodiments, a profile for an anticipated patient is stored within a medium associated with that anticipated patient. The medium may, for example, be a removable medium for external defibrillators.

  • Publication number: 20040236240
Abstract: Improved apparatus and methods for monitoring, diagnosing and treating at least one medical respiratory condition of a patient are provided, including a medical data input interface adapted to provide at least one medical parameter relating at least to the respiration of the patient, and a medical parameter interpretation functionality (104, 110) adapted to receive the at least one medical parameter relating at least to the respiration (102) of the patient and to provide at least one output indication (112) relating to a degree of severity of at least one medical condition indicated by the at least one medical parameter.

  • Publication number: 20040074133
Abstract: The “Fisherman's Helper” is used as a supplement to the standard fishing pole to allow the pole to “set” a hook in the fish's mouth using the recoil of the fishing pole with no required action from the fisherman at the point of a fish taking the bait. The assembly is designed to stay together under constant tension and to separate during periods of varied pressure such as a fish taking the baited hook and pulling against the set pole. When properly set up, the “Fisherman's Helper” will allow fish to be hooked without manual intervention at the point the fish takes the bait. This will allow people who desire to catch fish to do so even when distracted by other tasks undertaken while fishing. When properly set up, the “Fisherman's Helper” will allow fish to be hooked without manual intervention at the point the fish takes the bait.
