  • Publication number: 20160164612
Abstract: A wavelength division multiplexing/demultiplexing optical transceiver module is provided that is suitable for use in single mode optical fiber (SMF) and multimode optical fiber (MMF) optical communications links. When used in an MMF optical communications link, the optical transceiver module allows the length and bandwidth of the link to be increased significantly. The optical transceiver module can be used advantageously in an MMF link that includes existing MMF infrastructure to increase the bandwidth of the MMF link while avoiding the costs associated with pulling new higher-bandwidth fiber.

  • Patent number: 6366620
Abstract: A VSAT system for generating and transmitting a modulated data signal to a satellite. The VSAT system includes an indoor unit for generating a modulated data signal having an envelope of constant amplitude, and an outdoor unit including a transmitter module operative to receive the modulated data signal and to frequency multiply and amplify the modulated data signal so as to produce a modulated carrier signal having an envelope of constant amplitude. The transmitter module includes a multiplier operative to frequency multiply the modulated data signal to the frequency of the modulated carrier signal, and a power amplifier operated in the saturation mode, which amplifies the modulated carrier signal to the desired power level. The components constituting the transmitter module are formed on a single integrated circuit.

  • Patent number: 5774788
Abstract: A remote ground terminal for generating and transmitting a modulated data signal to a satellite. The remote ground terminal the remote ground terminal includes an indoor unit for generating a modulated data signal having an envelope of constant amplitude, and an outdoor unit including a transmitter module operative to receive the modulated data signal and to frequency multiply and amplify the modulated data signal so as to produce a modulated carrier signal having an envelope of constant amplitude. The transmitter module includes an active FET multiplier operative to frequency multiply the modulated data signal to the frequency of the modulated carrier signal, and a power amplifier operated in the saturation mode, which amplifies the modulated carrier signal to the desired power level. The components constituting the transmitter module are formed on a single integrated circuit.

  • Patent number: 5678210
Abstract: A remote ground terminal for transmitting a modulated data signal to a satellite. The remote ground terminal includes an outdoor unit comprising an input port for receiving a modulated data signal, a housing having an upper portion and a lower portion which comprises a waveguide. The outdoor unit further comprises a transmitter module for amplifying and multiplying the modulated data signal so as to produce the modulated carrier signal. The transmitter is mounted in the lower portion of the housing so as to be positioned above at least a portion of the waveguide. The outdoor unit also comprises a probe having a first and second end, with the first end being disposed in the transmitter module. The probe receives the modulated carrier signal generated by the transmitter module. The second end of the probe extends from a lower surface of the transmitter module into the waveguide.

  • Patent number: 5578972
Abstract: An apparatus for coupling a receiver and a transmitter to a single antenna via a feedhorn so as to allow for the simultaneous transmission and reception of signals. The apparatus is an integrally formed single unit which includes a polarizer, a circular waveguide section, a transmitter waveguide section, and a receiver waveguide section. The polarizer has a first, second and third port and is operative to separate and combine a first and second signal which are orthogonally polarized. The circular waveguide section has a first port formed integral with the first port of the polarizer and a second port for coupling to the antenna via a feedhorn. The circular waveguide section is operative for transmitting or receiving the first and second signals. The transmitter waveguide section has a first port formed integral with the second port of the polarizer, and a second port for coupling to the transmitter.
