  • Patent number: 7761105
Abstract: A grooming technique for managing text message traffic in mobile telephone networks, such as SMS text messages, involves directing certain text messages to a first delivery means (30) which attempts text message delivery one or more times to a destination mobile switching centre (22) or to a host (24) without passing through a store and forward function. Other text messages are directed to a second delivery means, involving a short message service centre (14), which provides a store and forward function for repeated attempted delivery of the text messages.

  • Patent number: 7524436
Abstract: The invention reports on the use of multi-reactive polymerizable surfactants in mixtures of polymerizable mesogenic materials. The polymerizable surfactants are readily polymerized into the liquid crystal film and build a protective topcoat layer. The invention also relates to a method of producing polymeric optical films with improved stability by using the surfactants. Uses of these films are given for various applications including security applications and displays.

  • Patent number: 7346551
Abstract: A merchant generates a customized service strategy related to a suite of electronic transaction services hosted by a service provider. The custom strategy specifies services to perform, and possibly an order in which to perform the services, by a service provider in relation to an electronic transaction associated with the merchant. Through use of a user interface, the strategy can be represented as a graphical decision tree, with terminal nodes representing services or actions. A customized strategy is transmitted to a service provider, as is transaction related information, whereby the service provider can service the transaction according to the strategy and based on the transaction information. Scheduling information that specifies different strategies to apply to different transaction scenarios can be generated. A strategy is selected by a service provider based on the scheduling information and transaction information, and is used to service one or more electronic transactions.

  • Publication number: 20050101337
Abstract: Apparatus and method of controlling delivery of text messages to a subscriber (2, 9, 10) in a telecommunications services apparatus, the method comprising the steps of the subscriber making a selection as to a mode of delivery that the subscriber requires for one of (i) a future text message and (ii) a category of future text messages, for example delivery by fax or e-mail, the subscriber's requested selection being implemented by a message processing means (3) in the form of an SMS router which is part of the home network (B) with which the subscriber's mobile telephone is normally associated, the arrangement being such that any text messages intended by the sender (1) to be delivered to the said subscriber, as intended receiver thereof, are directed to the message processing means which then implements the delivery mode previously selected by the subscriber (2, 9, 10).

  • Publication number: 20030043560
Abstract: An optimal microelectronic semiconductor device mount area on a printed circuit board is provided. A novel mount area includes a plurality of collinear arrangements of attach pads and collinear arrangements of vias so that, at a minimum, at least one signal trace may be routed directly through the mount area. Additionally, capacitors may be coupled directly within the mount area on a bottom surface of the printed circuit board. The mount area includes a plurality of collinear arrangements of attach pads and a plurality of collinear arrangements of vias. Each of the collinear arrangements of attach pads are preferably separated from the nearest adjacent collinear arrangements of attach pads by an equivalent distance. A plurality of collinear arrangements of vias are separated from adjacent collinear arrangements of vias by a first distance. At least two mutually adjacent collinear arrangements of vias define a trace routing channel through the mount area.

  • Patent number: 5460285
Abstract: A pressure relief venting lid for sealing an opening and providing pressure regulation of a container. The lid has a support plate attached by four angularly spaced spring assemblies to a port cover for sealing a filler opening in a manway cover for the container. The support plate overlies the port cover for fixedly supporting the spring assemblies and cover while protecting the springs and cover from impact or shock. The spring assemblies are disposed between the support plate and port cover for sealing the cover against the opening and allowing the cover to unseat from the opening to regulate the pressure within the container. The spring assemblies are offset equal distances from the center of the port cover to minimize bending moments that the cover may be subjected to. The generally circular port cover has a convex dished portion for strengthening the port cover to maintain the seal with the opening while under load.

  • Patent number: 5333752
Abstract: A storage container unit comprises an inner tank for containing a hazardous liquid disposed within an outer tank. The side wall of the inner tank is spaced radially inwardly of the side wall of the outer tank to provide an annular air chamber. The top wall of the inner tank has a radially outwardly extending annular lip which overlaps an annular flange on the upper edge of the said wall of the outer tank to close the air chamber. The outer tank and air chamber provide a secondary dike against the escape of hazardous liquid, and also prevents accidental contamination of the annular space.

  • Patent number: 4119226
Abstract: Slidable gates controlling the flow of coal from a coal bunker into hoppers on a larry car are opened, and simultaneously electric power to the travel circuit of the larry car is interrupted through control circuitry. Also, simultaneously a signal from a transmitter is received by a receiver and an interlock system is activated that prevents power from being restored to the travel circuit larry car until the gates are closed. When the gates are closed, the signal does not reach the receiver and all circuits return to normal and electric power to the travel circuit of the larry car is restored.
