  • Patent number: 4744182
Abstract: A building structure comprising a core unit including bathroom and kitchen facilities and a plurality of entrance and exit openings and a plurality of other separate building units having entrance and exit openings therein positioned adjacent the core unit and in communication therewith and with each other through aligned entrance and exit openings, separately constructed at a remote location and secured together in vertically adjusted level position at the building site. The invention further includes the method of constructing the building structure including the steps of constructing the separate core and other building units at a remote location, transporting them to a building site, locating them on foundation structures, vertically adjusting the individual structures and securing them together and subsequently adding additional other separate building units to expand the building structure.

  • Patent number: 4631893
Abstract: The building structure comprises a pre-existing single house structure having a peaked roof with an opening therein, a separate later built prefabricated dwelling unit positioned in the opening in the peaked roof of the house structure and extending outwardly away from the house structure and supported in the opening in the house structure by bearing walls of the house structure or separate support structure or by both which dwelling unit includes access either from the exterior or interior of the house structure or both, and which prefabricated dwelling unit includes parallel spaced apart side walls including a truss therein extending the full length of the side walls.

  • Patent number: 4480420
Abstract: Dormer construction comprising a dormer having two parallel spaced apart side walls having no openings therein consisting of a frame with sheet material both nailed and glued thereto on both sides thereof whereby the parallel spaced apart side walls form beam structures. The dormer is substantially rectangular and has lift members at the four corners thereof for lifting it into position in a house and includes a flashing on the exterior thereof along an opening in a roof in which the dormer is to be positioned for facilitating weather proofing between the dormer and the roof. The method of constructing such a dormer and lifting it into position in an opening cut in the roof of a house having spaced apart exterior bearing walls whereby the spaced apart parallel dormer walls act as beams to support the dormer from the bearing walls of the house.

  • Patent number: 4439959
Abstract: A residential building construction comprising four interconnected foundation walls which are partially sunk below a ground surface and support the floor across their upper end. Two side walls, a front wall and a back wall are supported by and extended upwardly from the foundation walls while a roof extends across and covers the side walls, back wall and front wall. A first interior wall extends between the floor and the roof at a position spaced inwardly but parallel to the front wall while, similarly, a second interior wall extends between the floor and roof at a position spaced inwardly but parallel to the back wall. The interior walls together with the building side walls form a living space of conventional height. In addition, the housing front wall preferably includes two windows having portions extending both above and below the housing floor. These windows provide illumination for the lower living level and, simultaneously, give the building construction the appearance of a conventional ranch home.

  • Patent number: 4437273
Abstract: A unique truss is provided for constructing the upper level of a dwelling in which a predetermined number of trusses are aligned in a parallel but spaced apart relationship to each other. The truss comprises an elongated floor joist having an outer wall framing member extending upwardly from each of its ends so that the outer wall framing members are parallel to each other. A peaked roof support then extends between and is secured to the upper end of the outer wall framing members. A horizontally extending ceiling member is then secured to the roof support at a position intermediate its ends so that the ceiling member is spaced upwardly from the floor joist by a distance equal to a conventional room height. At least one inner wall member is then secured between the floor joist and the roof support at a position spaced inwardly from the outer wall framing member.
