Patent number: 9242038Abstract: A diabetes therapy device is disclosed herein, which includes a profile memory storing a parameter profile and a dedicated reference time mark. The parameter profile defines at least one parameter that is associated with insulin administration as a function of time for a generally circadian chronobiological cycle. The reference time mark indicates the beginning of the circadian chronobiological cycle and initializes a running time. Insulin amounts to be administered are determined as a function of the running time in accordance with a current matching of the parameter profile. A modified matching based on the reference time mark and an upcoming trigger time is computed and is time-shifted from the current matching, wherein the modified matching is applied by making the modified matching the current matching, such that future insulin amounts to be administered are determined in accordance with the modified matching.Type: GrantFiled: September 23, 2010Date of Patent: January 26, 2016Assignee: Roche Diagnostics International AGInventors: Gilles Prod'hom, Thierry Prud'homme, Robert Hellwig, Bernhard Teupe

Publication number: 20090222247Abstract: A system and method are provided for generating a plurality of basal rate models that together model delivery of a corresponding plurality of basal rates of a diabetes treatment drug to a patient over a period of time. Information may be collected from a plurality of patients that have a diabetic condition and to which the diabetes treatment drug has been delivered. The collected information may include a glycemic control indicator for each of the plurality of patients that is indicative of an efficacy of the diabetes treatment drug in treating the patient's diabetic condition. The collected information may be filtered based on the glycemic control indicators to produce a subset of information that includes information only for patients that exhibit acceptable glycemic control. The plurality of basal rate models may be generated based on the subset of the collected information, and may be stored in a memory unit.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 28, 2008Publication date: September 3, 2009Inventors: Robert Hellwig, Wim Van der Helm, Stefan Weinert
