  • Publication number: 20240115446
Abstract: A remotely deployed, inflatable device designed to reduce or eliminate falls in senior living and assisted care facilities. Upon detecting undesired movement, nurses may deploy one or more inflatable cylinders, thereby inflating the device under one or both sides of the mattress, creating a barrier that prevents the resident from exiting the bed until on-site assistance arrives. It is envisioned that initially the operation of the device will rely on the remote monitoring of residents by one or more operators via live camera feeds. In more advanced versions it is envisioned that software and artificial intelligence will be able to use one or more camera feeds and will be able to supplement or even replace the need for a person to monitor any camera feeds.

  • Patent number: 6902042
Abstract: An automatic application hand brake mechanism is provided for automatically applying at least one brake member secured to a railway vehicle with the hand brake assembly. The mechanism comprises an operating member having at least one ratchet engageable with at least one gear of the hand brake assembly for operating the gear assembly in a direction which will cause an application of the at least one brake member. The apparatus also includes an application cylinder and a drive arm extending from an end thereof having a first portion which is connected to the operating member. The drive arm is capable of reciprocating with respect to the application cylinder upon the application of a force thereto to supply a predetermined pressure to the operating member to cause an automatic application of the at least one brake member.

The mechanism comprises an operating member having at least one ratchet. The at least one ratchet is engageable with at least one gear of a gear assembly disposed in a housing member of the hand brake assembly for operating the gear assembly in a direction which will cause an application of the at least one brake member. The apparatus also includes an application cylinder mounted on the railway vehicle and a drive arm extending from an end of the application cylinder. The drive arm has a first portion which is connected to the operating member. The drive arm is capable of reciprocating with respect to the application cylinder upon the application of a force thereto to supply a predetermined pressure to the operating member at least a sufficient amount so as to cause an application of the at least one brake member.

  • Publication number: 20030028404
Abstract: An insurance claim processing system and method which provides a plurality of prime movers such as insurers, intermediates, and risk managers and a plurality of suppliers including claim service providers, other professionals and vendors with the ability to simultaneously access, modify, and enhance a claim file remotely over a communications network. The claim processing system allows prime movers to select, interact with, assign tasks to, monitor, and evaluate claim service suppliers. As selected suppliers completed their assigned tasks, the suppliers are able to electronically attach electronic report documents to the claim file. Once all the tasks are completed, the prime mover associated with the claim file is notified and reviews the progress of the claim. Any additional tasks can be assigned and the claim adjustment can be completed.

  • Patent number: 6435962
Abstract: A vent register for controlling the flow of air from a heating and cooling duct system. The register includes a rack and pinion operating mechanism for controlling the movement of the damper louvers. The louvers are molded with an integral pinion gear and rotatably mounted within a rectangular housing. A slidably movable lever having a lineal rack of teeth is disposed within the housing. A portion of the lever protrudes above the face of the register for manipulation by the user and the rack of teeth engage the pinion gears of the louvers. The linear adjustment of the lever within the housing is translated to rotational adjustment of the louvers by the rack and pinion operating mechanism.
