  • Publication number: 20250320144
Abstract: A method that uses heat to economically recover usable flush water for livestock operation. The method thermally treats a dilute manure (DM) stream and separating the treated DM in a clarifier to produce output streams that pass to anaerobic digestion. This method minimizes the presence of biological activity and glycoprotein-based mucus that retards effective settling and removal of both sand and large sized TSS. Heating the DM thermally processes the input to the clarifier provides a net viscosity that promotes ready separation of both sand and TSS. The invention can be used in a closed loop flush water system or in recovering water usable for other purposes. Such other purposes include irrigation, recovery of clean water from the flush water using a UF membrane separation or aeration. Purification of such clean water can provide water for use in dairy operations.

  • Publication number: 20250274510
Abstract: A method is provided for managing over-the-top delivery of content through a plurality of content delivery networks (CDN). The method provided works transparently with standard HTTP servers supporting an initial request for content from a client to a first preferred CDN. If the first CDN does not have the content, the method includes provisions for the first CDN to acquire the content from a second CDN, or for the client to request the content from a second CDN directly. A system is also specified for implementing a client and server infrastructure in accordance with the provisions of the method.

  • Publication number: 20250187959
Abstract: A process for anaerobically treating a feed of manure that contains liquid and suspended solid in a reaction that uses a multicell lagoon reactor (MCLR) wherein the reaction system has an input cell, an output cell, and one or more intermediate cell all in series and located at least partially below the ground. A partition separates the cells to restrict a gravity induced flow of liquid and solids retained cell. The solids retention time exceeds the hydraulic retention time in each cell. Enclosing the cells enables collecting of biogas from the cells. At least an input cell operates as an anaerobic sequencing batch reactor that undergoes periodic mixing. An output cell provides treated liquid for recovery.

  • Publication number: 20240360020
Abstract: Methods and equipment of this invention enable small scale animal farming operations to substantially all or nearly all the recoverable value from their manure streams at a cost suitable for such smaller scale operations. The invention gives small scale animal farming operations the opportunity to obtain manure recovery benefits typically obtainable only in animal farming operations having high animal populations. The recovery is in forms that are both useable, readily monetized, environmentally sustainable, and cost effective. Much of the recovered material can find use back within the processing steps of invention thereby increasing the value of the recovered residual materials.

  • Publication number: 20240008393
Abstract: An improved treatment of manure from animal husbandry results from using a hybrid upflow, anaerobic contact reactor that maintains a flocculent bed of solids in combination with a microfiltration/ultrafiltration system and a recycle flow arrangement. This hybrid anaerobic contact reactor arrangement provides a high conversion of COD and volatile suspended solids in the anaerobic contact reactor by maintaining a flocculent region of solids and direct recycle of an aliquot portion of the effluent stream from the anaerobic contact reactor. The direct recycle facilitates the adjustment of the hydraulic retention time versus the solids retention time within the anaerobic contact reactor. The provision of concentrate from the microfiltration/ultrafiltration system increases solids retention time in the anaerobic contact reactor. This arrangement eliminates additional processing steps and equipment typically used in treating flush manure.

  • Publication number: 20230278880
Abstract: A method of recovering ammonia bicarbonate from a biogas and digestate liquor uses an arrangement of equipment in an operational arrangement that requires relatively modest capital investment and that operates with simplicity to provide solid ammonia bicarbonate. In a specific form the method achieves this by upgrading of biogas to produce a rejected stream having a high mole fraction of CO2 at an elevated pressure that eliminates the need for further compression when using the CO2 for recovery of ammonia bicarbonate. The method operates can operate at a high pH produced inherently in a digestate stripper by concurrently stripping dissolved CO2 from solution to improve the simplicity of solid AB recovery.

  • Patent number: 10724055
Abstract: The methods are disclosed for sustaining a population of microorganisms in an aqueous fermentation broth used in a process to convert syngas to alcohol when the supply of syngas is impaired. The methods involve supplying at least one formate moiety at a rate and amount sufficient to maintain the population of microorganisms. The introduction of the formate moiety also results in the production of at least one metabolic compound other than ethanol and/or acetate by the microorganisms. The metabolic compound can comprise at least one energy storage compound which can be used to support the microorganisms during processing, storage and reactivation.
