  • Patent number: 12590518
Abstract: An artificial lift assembly and method relating thereto where a sleeve system is disposed above an electrical submersible pump. The sleeve system has a sliding sleeve at least partially carried within a ported case. The sliding sleeve blocks fluid flow through ports in the ported case. The sliding sleeve is restricted from movement relative to the ported case until a first predetermined pressure is applied to the sliding sleeve. Subsequent to the operating the electrical submersible pump, a plug is introduced to the sliding sleeve so as to block fluid flow through the sliding sleeve, Subsequent to introducing the plug, fluid pressure above the plug is increased until the sliding sleeve moves relative to the ported case such that fluid flow is allowed through the ports. Thereafter removing the artificial lift assembly from the wellbore.

  • Publication number: 20240344625
Abstract: An adjustable check valve that can include a housing with an inlet and an outlet and a sleeve slidably disposed in the housing, the sleeve having a ball holder portion with a first ball disposed therein. The adjustable check valve can also include a first spring disposed in a lower spring chamber that engages the sleeve to force the first ball into a first seat to prevent fluid from flowing uphole in the adjustable check valve and a set screw threadably engaged with the housing to apply a desired amount of tension to the first spring. A method of designing an adjustable check valve to have a desired crack pressure. The method includes the step of determining a desired crack pressure of the adjustable check valve based on operational parameters. The method also includes the step of assembling the adjustable check valve to have the desired crack pressure.

  • Publication number: 20240110569
Abstract: A pumping system including a safety disconnect switch. The pumping system includes a variable frequency drive, an electrical submersible pump, and a motor connected to the electrical submersible pump. The pumping system also includes a safety disconnect switch disposed downstream from the variable frequency drive and upstream from the electrical submersible pump to prevent electric power generated by the motor from traveling upstream from the safety disconnect switch in the pumping system. A method of preventing electric power from flowing upstream from a safety disconnect switch in a pumping system includes the step of opening a circuit in the safety disconnect switch to prevent electric power from a motor attached to an electrical submersible pump from flowing upstream from the safety disconnect switch to other components of the pumping system.

  • Patent number: 11713822
Abstract: A jetted check valve includes a body with an upper opening and a lower opening. The jetted check valve also includes a primary poppet slidably disposed in the body to allow the flow of fluid from the lower opening and out of the upper opening and prevent the flow of fluid from the upper opening through the lower opening. The jetted check valve further includes a secondary poppet slidably disposed at least partially within the primary poppet to allow the flow of fluid from the lower opening and out of the upper opening and prevent the flow of fluid from the upper opening through the lower opening. • Publication number: 20200348024
Abstract: An annular combustor for a gas turbine engine including inner and outer combustor walls, wherein each wall defines an annulus and the inner wall is radially inward of the outer wall. The combustor includes a primary zone where the inner and outer combustor walls converge in a downstream direction, and a secondary zone downstream of the primary zone. In the secondary zone, the inner and outer walls are arranged to converge at a different rate to the primary zone, are non-convergent or are divergent in a downstream direction, a rate of change of radial width of the combustor is different in the zones. A transition is provided from the primary zone to the secondary zone. A plurality of combustor cooling tiles lines the inner and outer walls. One or more of the tiles are arranged to extend from the primary to secondary zone and across the transition from the zones.

  • Patent number: 8328982
Abstract: Devices and methods for generating a low-temperature, atmospheric pressure plasma are disclosed. A plasma device may include a first electrode having an inlet for a gas, a second electrode having an outlet for the gas and disposed proximate to the first electrode to form a substantially uniform gap therebetween. The gas flows along the substantially uniform gap and from a plurality of different directions to converge and flow through the outlet. High frequency electrical power is applied between the first electrode and the second electrode to generate a plasma within the gas flow emerging at the outlet. Precursor chemicals are added to the plasma flow at the outlet. Various electrode designs may be implemented and various applications involving surface treatment of materials with the low-temperature atmospheric plasma, including surface activation, cleaning, sterilization, etching and deposition of thin films are disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20080014445
Abstract: A system and method of depositing coatings on a substrate includes providing a substrate in contact with air, and providing a plasma source (12) having a housing (16) surrounding a first electrode (18) and a second electrode (20) spaced from the first electrode. A plasma is generated by applying a signal to the first electrode and exciting a gas between the first electrode and the second electrode. A substantially uniform flux of at least one reactive specie is generated over an area larger than 1 cm2. The plasma is emitted into the air and toward the substrate. Various embodiments of the system and method allow high speed deposition of coatings on even thermally-sensitive substrates without the need of a chamber enclosing the substrate.
