  • Publication number: 20070035394
Abstract: A solar powered perimeter beam security system comprising a plurality of spaced towers. The towers have detection beams extending between them for detecting an intruder when at least one of the detection beams is interrupted. Each of the towers communicates with a remote unit. At least one of the towers is movable from one location to another. An alarm. The detection beams define an intruder detection area into which an intruder cannot pass without breaking at least one of the detection beams thereby setting off the alarm. The detection area is expandable and decreasable by moving at least one of the towers. The towers are incapable of movement without setting off the alarm once positioned with the detections beams being activated.

  • Patent number: 7151466
Abstract: This invention is an ultra-low frequency electromagnetic telemetry receiver which fuses multiple input receive sources to synthesize a decodable message packet from a noise corrupted telemetry message string. Each block of telemetry data to be sent to the surface receiver from a borehole tool is digitally encoded into a data packet prior to transmission. The data packet is modulated onto the ULF EM carrier wave and transmitted from the borehole to the surface and then are simultaneously detected by multiple receive sensors disbursed within the rig environment. The receive sensors include, but are not limited to, electric field and magnetic field sensors. The spacing of the surface receive elements is such that noise generators are unequally coupled to each receive element due to proximity and/or noise generator type (i.e. electric or magnetic field generators).

  • Patent number: 6857702
Abstract: A forwardly displaceable vehicle seat for vehicles in which a rear seat is accessed through a side door. A locking device (40) is assigned to the seat back joint (32) and locks the seat back joint (32) in a first locking position in a normal use position of the vehicle seat. A release (42), preferably arranged on the seat back (20), cooperates with the locking device (40), and permits displacement of the vehicle seat from the normal use position into a forwardly displaced position having the seat back (20) folded forward. A first transmission mechanism (54) sets a memory unit (78) and releases a stop unit (70) when the seat back (20) is tilted forward. • Patent number: 6736460
Abstract: A joint fitting for a vehicle seat with a forward tiltable seat back. The joint fitting has a first fitting part, a second fitting part and a pivot joint pivotally joining these two fitting parts. A locking cam is hinged to the first fitting part and is pivotal about a cam axle, the locking cam has a first end region located in proximity to the cam axle and a second end region. A locking bight is configured on the second fitting part and is provided with a first locking side and with a facing second locking side, the distance between these locking sides matching the distance between the two end regions. An actuation device acts on the locking cam at a distance from the cam axle so that the locking cam may be moved from a locking position into a release position. In the locking position, the first end region of the locking cam abuts on the first locking side and the second end region of the locking cam abuts on the second locking side.

  • Patent number: 6582023
Abstract: The vehicle seat has a seat carrier and an underframe. The underframe comprises two bottom rails, two seat rails, two front supports, and two rear pivoting supports. A buckle of a safety belt is provided. Tensile loads acting on the buckle are transferred into the underframe. The bottom rail neighboring the buckle is provided with a side part that extends upward toward the seat carrier. A slot is configured in this side part and is oriented substantially transversely to a direction of a force acting on the buckle during of a frontal crash. A sliding member is provided and is guided in the slot. A pull-type strap is arranged between the buckle and the sliding member. A connecting rod is arranged between the neighboring rear pivoting support and the sliding member. Whenever the seat carrier is adjusted in height, the neighboring rear pivoting support is pivoted and the connecting rod displaces the sliding member in the slot, causing the buckle to follow the movement of the seat carrier.

  • Patent number: 6453170
Abstract: A user interface, and an associated method, facilitates operation of a mobile station by a physically-disabled user. In one implementation, concave-shaped face covers are provided for the telephonic keypad of a mobile station to facilitate its usage by a physically-disabled user. In another implementation, the mobile station is provided with a TTY (telecommunications device), also to facilitate operation of the mobile station by a physically-disabled user. And, in another implementation, a location-request signal generator, carriable by a user, generated a location-request signal upon actuation by the user. The mobile station includes a local receiver for receiving the location-request signal and an annunciator for annunciating reception of the location-request signal. If the mobile station becomes misplaced, a user actuates the location-request signal generator, and the annunciation signal generated responsive to detection of such signal at the mobile station facilitates location of the mobile station.

  • Patent number: 6412058
Abstract: A system, method, and article of manufacture for adaptive re-mapping of head addresses in a data storage device. A logical address received by the data storage device is converted into a corresponding physical address, such as cylinder or track, read/write head, and sector. The selection of the read/write head is then re-mapped by the data storage device to a more optimal selection. Thereafter, the desired operation can be performed using the physical address including the re-mapped selection of the read/write heads.
