  • Publication number: 20110249288
Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein can facilitate delivery of a document from a source to a destination over a network where an initial delivery attempt has been unsuccessful. Actions to be taken are based upon input conditions which may include a time-variable set of input conditions such as identifying non-business days and/or hours at the destination. The document can be a fax, an email, or a voice mail. The actions may include resubmitting the document to the network for a next delivery attempt, cancelling the document, sending a request to the source or destination for additional delivery information, identifying the destination as a technical problem, or a combination thereof.

  • Patent number: 7961344
Abstract: An automated rule-based system for facilitating delivery of a fax document from a source to a destination over a network where an initial delivery attempt has been unsuccessful. Actions to be taken are based upon a time-variable set of input conditions which may be determined from one or more of the destination, the source, a database of past delivery attempts, and a human analyst. The actions may include one or more of resubmitting the fax document to the network for a next delivery attempt, cancelling the document, sending a request to the source or destination for additional delivery information, and identifying the destination as a technical problem. The input conditions may include an identification of non-business days and non-business hours.

  • Publication number: 20110121133
Abstract: The invention relates to an aircraft fuselage (12) comprising at least one space arranged in the aircraft fuselage and at least one wall (16). According to the invention, the wall resists burnthrough for a period of at least four minutes from outside the aircraft fuselage towards the space, wherein the region of the aircraft fuselage (12) underneath the space does not comprise burnthrough-resistant insulation. The space can be a cargo compartment of the aircraft or a passenger cabin, while the wall can be designed as a cargo compartment floor, passenger cabin floor or wing/fuselage fairing (belly-fairing). The design, according to the invention, of the aircraft fuselage results in burnthrough resistance that meets the requirements of FAR ยง25.856 (b) without any additional burnthrough-resistant insulation in the aircraft fuselage.

  • Publication number: 20080089911
Abstract: Immununological compositions and methods for making and using them. The compositions contain at least one antigen and at least one lipoprotein and optionally an adjuvant. The lipoprotein can itself be antigenic or immunogenic. The antigen can be influenza HA and the lipoprotein a recombinantly expressed product having an OspA leader for lipidation and PspA for the protein portion. The antigen can be OspC and the lipoprotein OspA. The components of the composition are co-administered. A potentiated immunological response is obtained by the compositions and methods.

  • Publication number: 20070251849
Abstract: Devices in which components of medical kits are carried are identifiable by means other than by the naked eye. The means for identification is attached to or integral with the device and may comprise raised and lowered surfaces that can be read by touch; serrations disposed on an edge or surface; a fluorescent coating viewable under infrared or ultraviolet light; or a pattern that is viewable using a thermal imaging device such as night vision goggles. A package for retaining a medical item includes an identifying element of a material that is selectively viewable in response to light attributes of the material. A device for the visual identification of a package containing a medical item includes an identifying element comprising a material that is visually discernible in reduced-light environments via the use of night vision devices.

  • Publication number: 20060257855
Abstract: The present invention provides a biological particle analogue, or biological analogue, that simulates a chosen biological organism or compound. The biological analogue includes a first portion that is not, in and of itself, recognized by the biological detection system, and a second portion, which provides the properties necessary for recognition by the detection system, carried by the first portion. The biological analogue is constructed in such a way as to include some important characteristics of the chosen biological organism or compound, while excluding other undesirable characteristics of the chosen biological organism or compound. The present invention is useful in testing a variety of biological detection systems.

  • Publication number: 20050171343
Abstract: Heterologous lipidated proteins formed recombinantly are disclosed and claimed. The expression system can be E. coli. The heterologous lipidated protein has a leader sequence which does not naturally occur with the protein portion of the lipidated protein. The lipidated protein can have the Borrelia OspA leader sequence. The protein portion can be OspC, PspA, UreA, Ure B, or a fragment thereof. Methods and compositions for forming and employing the proteins are also disclosed and claimed.

  • Patent number: 5790639
Abstract: A method and apparatus for assisting delivery of fax documents over a value-added network, such as a store-and-forward network. If an initial delivery attempt is unsuccessful, the network automatically sends an e-mail to the sender of the fax document indicating the status of the fax delivery and reasons for the document's non-delivery. The sender of the fax is prompted to choose from selectable options included in the e-mail which provide instructions to resolve the delivery problem. Upon receipt of an e-mail response, the network automatically decodes the selected options and uses the chosen options to resend the fax document and automatically resolve the delivery problem.

  • Patent number: 5686078
Abstract: Animals, including humans, are immunized by antigens, for example, the HA antigen of influenza, by first administering to a naive animal a normally strongly-immunogenic form of the antigen, for example, inactiviated or attenuated whole cell virus and subsequently administering a normally weakly-immunogenic isolated and purified viral antigen, to achieve an enhanced immune response to the purified viral antigen.

  • Patent number: 5573118
Abstract: A nestable open head container has a generally circular tapered sidewall and an enlarged diameter nesting ring which prevents the lids of adjacent containers from contacting each other during shipping and provides a nesting seat adjacent the top of the sidewall. When inserting a second container into a first container to nest them, the nesting seat of the second container contacts the rim of the first container to limit the depth of insertion of the second container. This maintains a gap between the containers when nested and substantially reduces the frictional engagement between them. A banding channel is formed in the container to receive a substantially inextensible band that releasably secures at least two containers adjacent to each other for increased stability of a package of containers during shipping.

  • Patent number: 5402909
Abstract: A drum for liquids with a generally cylindrical sidewall and a drainage system in each end wall. One end wall has a peripheral channel opening into a sump from which substantially all the of liquid in the drum can be removed through a dip tube received in the sump and connected to a siphon or a pump. The other end wall has another sump located adjacent the sidewall with a tapered portion extending between them so that when the barrel is turned upside down substantially all of its contents can be drained by gravity through a bunghole in the sump. A plug is removably threaded in the bunghole which preferably overlaps and is generally axially aligned with the sump in the other end wall to facilitate inserting the dip tube.
