  • Patent number: 9173444
Abstract: A device (100) for determining an appropriately sized medical undergarment for a wearer includes a housing (101) and a wheel (102). A first body mass index factor alignment indicator (108) can be aligned with a first body mass index factor, such as weight of a wearer, thereby revealing color coded symbols (109) aligned with a plurality of second body mass factor alignment indicators (110). A user selects the appropriate size by determining which color is aligned with a second body mass factor alignment indicator of the wearer. An optional second side (205) of the device (100) can be used to determine an appropriate type of medical undergarment based upon urinary output, wearer mobility, or combinations thereof.

  • Publication number: 20090068372
Abstract: An apparatus for applying a wax seal to an article such as a wine bottle including a bottom tank formed of at least one upstanding wall and a bottom wall and having an open top end, the bottom tank being fitted with electrical heating means; an upper tank formed of at least one upstanding wall and having an open top end and a closed bottom wall, the upper tank being fitted with electrical heating means, the upper tank being connected at its closed bottom wall with the open top end of said bottom tank, a screen adjustably located inside the upper tank, a pump located in the bottom tank and extending into the upper tank for conveying molten wax from the bottom tank to the upper tank and an overflow opening in the upper tank.

  • Publication number: 20070065431
Abstract: The present invention relates to binding moieties comprising at least one monomeric V-like domain (VLD) derived from a non-antibody ligand, the at least one monomeric V-like domain being characterised in that at least one CDR loop structure or part thereof is modified or replaced such that the solubility of the modified VLD is improved when compared with the unmodified VLD.

  • Publication number: 20070048774
Abstract: Provided is a method for the mutation, synthesis and selection of a protein of interest, by first incubating a replicable RNA molecule encoding the protein with ribonucleoside triphosphate precursors of RNA and an RNA-directed RNA polymerase, such that the RNA-directed RNA polymerase replicates the RNA molecule but introduces mutations thereby generating a population of mutant RNA molecules. The mutant RNA molecules are then incubated with a translation system under conditions which result in the synthesis of a population of mutant proteins. After translation, the mutant proteins are linked to their encoding RNA molecules, and one or more mutant proteins of interest are selected.

  • Publication number: 20060099611
Abstract: The present invention relates to the field of evolution of nucleic acids in vivo and provides methods and compositions for introducing diversity into gene products. The present invention allows generation of new sequences that have desirable properties by virtue of high frequency mutation events within a cell. The high frequency mutation of a polynucleotide sequence results in, the production of a large population of new sequence variants. Appropriate selection and/or screening permits identification and isolation of mutant forms of the polynucleotide sequence as well as products resulting from expression of the mutant sequences.

  • Patent number: 6883781
Abstract: The tool is adapted for extracting the sheared remnant of a sign post having holes and comprises a shaft having a top and bottom end. To secure the tool to the remnant a clamp is provided comprising a stationary member integral to the bottom end of the shaft and a moveable member pivotally connected to the stationary member. Fixed to the stationary member is a guide member having a plurality of outwardly projecting pins. The pins have a diameter and spaced relationship adapted to correspond to the diameter and spaced relationship of the holes in the sign post remnant. When the clamp is inserted into the sign post remnant the pins will enter and tightly engage the holes in the signpost remnant. Connected to the top end of the shaft is a sliding hammer for imparting extraction forces to the sheared sign post remnant.

  • Publication number: 20040113132
Abstract: A hand operated tool for removing the sheared remnants of square steel sign posts from post anchors. The tool has means for clamping onto the remnant and means for removing the remnant. Means for removing the remnant comprise a sliding hammer mechanism that is attached to a shaft that is in turn attached to the clamp so that operation of the hammer mechanism imparts extraction forces through the shaft to the clamp thereby forcing the remnant out of the post anchor.

  • Patent number: 4248709
Abstract: The method of treating sewer scum including combustibles and debris includes the steps of collecting the scum from sewage, delivering it to a perforated filter drum, continuously rotating the drum upon an inclined longitudinal axis, applying heated air under pressure to the exterior of the drum along its length inwardly of the perforations, discharging the debris continuously and collecting the filtered combustibles. Apparatus for filtering said scum includes an elongated cylindrical perforated drum rotatable on an inclined axis receiving scum at its upper end and discharging debris at its lower end. A cylindrical shell sealingly encloses the perforated portion of the drum for providing a pressure chamber above the drum and a collection chamber below the drum. An elongated air channel along the interior of the shell delivers high pressure heated air to said pressure chamber and filtered scum accumulates in the collection chamber.
