  • Patent number: 4290247
Abstract: A heat insulation system for an attic and the like comprises a moving fluid barrier between layers of static insulation. In the disclosed embodiment the fluid barrier comprises a plane of moving air which extends over substantially the entire surface to be insulated. A method of circulating air through the air passage of the air barrier to reduce the temperature gradient between the attic and an underlying room is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4268167
Abstract: System for measuring the distance between a central location and any number of remote locations. Two parallel beams of radiation emanate outwardly from the central location, and the beams are rotated at a known angular velocity. The time required for each of the two beams of radiation to sweep past a given point at a remote location is a function of the distance which separates the remote location from the central location, and that time can be determined at the remote location to indicate the separation distance. The beams of radiation may be parallel beams, or alternatively the beams may diverge at a known fixed angle that does not originate at the point of rotation.

  • Patent number: 4222212
Abstract: A reel of flexible sheet material of a width wider than the space between adjacent ones of the purlins in a roof structure is mounted on a support framework over a space between adjacent ones of the purlins. The framework is moved along the purlins and the reel of sheet material is progressively unrolled and the sheet material is formed and guided by the framework down into the space between the adjacent purlins to create a trough in the space between the adjacent purlins. Insulation material is placed in and supported in the trough of sheet material and additional hard insulation can be applied to the upper and lower flanges of the purlins and also can be applied to the purlins to span the space between adjacent ones of purlins. Hard sheets of roofing material are applied to the purlins to cover the roof structure.

  • Patent number: 4172345
Abstract: Discrete bodies of heat insulation are shaped to fit in the roof structure of an industrial building. The insulation bodies fit in the spaces between adjacent ones of the purlins in the roof and are supported by straps extending through or beneath the purlins or by shaping the insulation bodies to include overhanging side flaps that extend across the upper surfaces of adjacent purlins. The insulation bodies are placed end-to-end between adjacent purlins and run parallel to the purlins. The insulation bodies are constructed, for example, in self-supporting monolithic form or in air impervious bags filled with loose heat insulation material.

  • Patent number: 4144916
Abstract: A funneling device for automatically measuring proportional amounts of two liquids and simultaneously mixing the two liquids. The device includes separate input spouts for each of two liquids, a common output spout, and a device for restrictively metering one liquid into the mainstream flow of the second liquid in amounts proportionate to the amount of second liquid leaving the common output spout.

  • Patent number: 4132067
Abstract: The system comprises exerting thrust on an object within a particulate medium, such as air, by creating an oscillatory field, such as sound waves, in the medium and by mounting on the object a control apparatus for controlling the movement of the particulate medium. The control apparatus comprises a barrier including gated openings and utilizes the control apparatus to allow particles of the medium to pass through the barrier when moving in one direction under the influence of the oscillatory field, but prevents the particles from passing back through the barrier when moving in the opposite direction of oscillation under the influence of the field. A net force is thereby imparted to the object.

  • Patent number: 4058769
Abstract: System for controlling the magnitude of an RF carrier signal that is concurrently being amplitude-modulated, whereby there is provided an amplitude-modulated signal that is compatible for reception either as a conventional AM signal or as an SSB signal. The instantaneous power of a carrier signal is adjusted in response to the instantaneous power of a modulation signal available to modulate the carrier signal. The carrier signal power is allowed to fluctuate between a maximum value and a minimum or no-modulation value, which may provide a minimum carrier level notwithstanding the absence of a modulating signal.

  • Patent number: 4047345
Abstract: A roof structure is fabricated by supporting a lattice of support straps through openings in the purlins, supporting one or more reels of insulation material on adjacent pairs of purlins with the width of the material spanning the space between the purlins, moving the reels along the lengths of the purlins and paying out the insulation material from the reels down into the spaces between the purlins and onto the lattice of support straps to substantially fill the space above the straps to the tops of the purlins. Additional insulation material is applied to the upper surfaces of the purlins. The workmen follow the reels of insulation material and connect the hard roofing material over the insulation material to the purlins to complete the roof structure.

  • Patent number: 4047346
Abstract: An insulated roof structure is formed on an industrial building by mounting a support framework on the purlins in the partially completed roof structure and moving the framework along the length of the purlins. A reel of wire mesh and a reel of sheet material are carried by the framework over each of the spaces between adjacent ones of the purlins and the reels are progressively unrolled and the layers of wire mesh and sheet material are applied to the spaces between the purlins as the support framework moves. Additional insulation can be blown upon or otherwise applied to the sheet material to fill the spaces between the purlins, and hard sheets of roofing material are applied to the purlins as the support framework progresses across the structure.
