  • Patent number: 7192416
Abstract: The fluid injection apparatus includes a syringe, an injector, and a pressure jacket. The syringe has a cylindrical body with an injection section at a distal end and a plurality of outward extending retaining flanges at a proximal end. The injector has an injector housing defining a central opening and an injector drive piston extendable through the central opening for imparting motive forces to a syringe plunger disposed within the syringe. The pressure jacket secures the syringe during an injection procedure. The pressure jacket has a wall defining a plurality of longitudinally extending grooves in an inner surface thereof configured to receive the retaining flanges of the syringe. The grooves cooperate with a plurality of transversely extending slots defined in the inner surface of the pressure jacket wall. The engagement of the retaining flanges in the slots via the grooves secures the syringe in the pressure jacket.

  • Patent number: 7029458
Abstract: A syringe adapter, which permits use of syringes of various types and sizes to be used with a front-loading injector, includes a piston extension and an adapter face plate. The piston extension includes structure for connecting the piston extension to a drive piston of the injector and a plunger of the syringe. The adapter face plate includes a mounting device for attaching the adapter face plate to an injector and a recess for receiving the distal flange of the syringe. The adapter face plate may also include locking pivot arms for releasably engaging the syringe flange.

  • Patent number: 6743205
Abstract: An adapter includes a syringe carrier adapted to seat at least a portion of the syringe. The syringe carrier includes at least one rearward facing abutment member to abut at least one forward facing surface on a syringe. The syringe carrier includes an opening therein to allow a drive member of an injector to communicate forward force to the plunger through abutment without connective engagement between the drive member and the plunger. The adapter further includes a releasable mounting mechanism positioned to the rear of the syringe carrier to mount the adapter in a desired position relative to the front wall of the injector.

  • Patent number: 6716195
Abstract: An adapter for releasably attaching a syringe to an injector includes a first section and a second section connected about a hinge axis that is generally perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the adapter. The first section and the second section are rotatable about the hinge axis between an open position to allow loading of the syringe into the adapter from a position to the rear of the hinge axis and a closed position to retain the syringe therein. The hinge axis is preferably off-center from the longitudinal axis of the adapter and the adapter further includes a releasable mounting mechanism positioned on a rearward end of the adapter to mount the adapter in a desired position relative to the front wall of the injector.
