  • Patent number: 5246795
Abstract: A lithium carbon monoflouride electrochemical cell adapted for high temperature use and storage. The high temperature capability is provided by incorporating into such cells novel components such as a polyetheretherketone grommet, a single layer non-woven glass fiber separator, a sealant which contains up to fifteen percent, by weight, silicone, and an electrolyte which contains an increased proportion of propylene carbonate. For temperatures above 180.degree. C., the metal lithium anode conventionally used in LiCF.sub.x cells may be replaced by a lithium-alloy material.

  • Patent number: 4992987
Abstract: A battery package for an integrated circuit having a container member with a floor and side walls; a pair of grooves through the inside surface of the side walls. A battery is disposed within the container, connected to two generally planar, electrically conductive contacts each having generally perpendicular, integral, pin portion formed on one end thereof. Each contact is attached to one of the battery terminals such that its pin is positioned within one of the grooves and extends above said upper container surface. The second contact is attached such that the portion of said second contact next adjacent said pin is positioned on a platform within the groove. A sealing composition envelops the battery, contacts, and a portion of the pins. The package is electrically attached to a dual-in-line integrated circuit member and the junction is sealed.

  • Patent number: 4851756
Abstract: A hybrid battery which provides back-up energy for a main power source to a load. The hybrid battery comprises a rechargeable nickel cadmium battery, a primary lithium battery and a power transistion circuit for controlling the supply selection to the load based on the highest voltage available. The hybrid battery further comprises a charge controller circuit for recharging the nickel cadmium battery from the main power source. Both the power transition circuit and the charge controller circuit isolate each of the energy sources from one another preventing draining whenever one or more of the power sources are off.
