  • Patent number: 10613146
Abstract: A test apparatus includes an output configured to be coupled to a sense input of an arc quenching device control circuit of an arc quenching system, a user interface, and a control circuit configured to generate a simulated sense signal at the output in response to an input at the user interface, the simulated sense signal representing a physical state associated with a fault condition of a bus coupled to the arc quenching system. The simulated sense signal may be configured to cause the arc quenching device control circuit to trigger an arc quenching device of the arc quenching system. The physical state may include, for example, a voltage condition, a current condition, a temperature, a pressure or a light intensity. In some embodiments, the simulated sense signal may include a current indicative of a current passing through a bus to which the arc quenching system is connected.

  • Patent number: 10087955
Abstract: An airlift pump comprising a hollow, cylindrical main body having an injection hole near the bottom end, a channel routed in the outside surface of the main body and extending continuously from the injection hole to the top end, and an air tube seated in the channel and bonded to the main body. The air tube comprises an injection end having an elbow forming an injection angle such that the air is injection into the main body in a downward direction toward the bottom end. The air tube further comprises a receiving end extending past the top end of the main body and connecting to air supply tubing. The pump has a restricted lateral width enabling the pump to fit inside the narrow monitoring wells typical in the groundwater monitoring industry.

  • Patent number: 7885886
Abstract: A current mortgage price indicator futures contract (“Mortgage Futures Contract”) that can be traded on a futures exchange is described. The contracts add value over existing hedging and speculating alternatives by meeting the needs of a wide range of mortgage and mortgage-backed securities (MBS) market participants such as portfolio managers, dealers, hedgers, originators, speculators and arbitrageurs. The Mortgage Futures Contract is based upon conventional MBS and has a relatively current coupon composition, thereby resulting in risk properties that appeal to market participants more so than prior contracts based on non-conventional MBS that were not correlated to current MBS production. The Mortgage Futures Contract has a cash settlement feature designed to eliminate complicated and largely uneconomic physical delivery of the underlying security. A options contract corresponding to the Mortgage Futures Contract and that can be traded on a futures exchange is also described.

  • Patent number: 5797954
Abstract: Disclosed are tools and methods for assisting in the manual insertion of a needle into a medical device implanted under the skin of a patient and for assisting in the manual removal of the needle from this implanted medical device. The same tool may be used for both accessing and deaccessing the needle, or a special tool may be used for just assisting in the insertion of the needle into the implanted medical device. This special tool includes a holder section with a pair of fork elements spaced apart a distance which is slightly greater than the width of the implanted medical device. The tool for assisting in the manual removal of the needle from the implanted medical device includes an elongated body having a handle section and an enlarged guard section with an elongated slot extending from an edge of the guard section into the guard section, terminating at an internal portion of the guard section.

  • Patent number: 5368747
Abstract: Improved techniques are provided for separating mixtures of materials having different densities. The apparatus of the present invention is well suited for separating oil from water, and includes a separation tank defining a cylindrical water inlet chamber and a frustroconical separation chamber spaced above an adjoining the input inlet chamber. An oil leg is spaced above the separation chamber, and an adjustable oil overflow unit is provided adjacent the oil outlet for controlling the height of oil in the oil leg. A water leg is provided in parallel with the separation tank, and the elevation of the water outlet controls the height of water in the water leg. The oil leg overflow unit allows the head pressure in the oil leg relative to the head pressure in the water leg to maintain the interface within the separation chamber. Sensing devices are provided for monitoring the elevation of the oil/water interface within the separation chamber.

  • Patent number: 4632611
Abstract: A drill for a paper drilling machine. The drill is made of two separate parts, namely a cutting bit of hollow generally cylindrical form having an annular cutting edge at one end, and a hollow cylindrical sleeve which receives the opposite end portion of the bit and which is itself received in a collet assembly of a drill spindle of the machine. The sleeve is radially compressible and is compressed by the collet assembly to frictionally grip the bit and permit transmission of drilling torque from the drill spindle to the bit in use.
