  • Patent number: 8390393
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention address deficiencies of the art in respect to via structure utilization in a PCB design and provide a novel and non-obvious method, system and computer program product for impedance discontinuity remediation for via stubs and connectors in a PCB. In one embodiment a method for impedance discontinuity remediation in a PCB can be provided. The method can include configuring a pre-distortion filter to negate an impedance discontinuity in an electrical signal caused by a transmission line with one of a via stub or a connector. The method further can include pre-distortion filtering an electrical signal before transmitting the electrical signal over the transmission line. • Publication number: 20040257763
Abstract: A split backplane is used in a network server, thereby permitting the use of more than one channel to connect a server motherboard to one or more hard disc drives. A master card ‘A’ is plugged into each backplane. In turn, one or more additional cards may be stacked parallel to the master card, being joined thereto by a mezzanine connector. The additional card can be another master card ‘A’ or a slave card ‘B’ that performs subordinate functions. Each card is coupled to one or more hard disc drives through a multiple pin connector to transmit SCSI, or similar signals. The ‘A’ and ‘B’ cards are arranged generally parallel with the planar surfaces of the disc drives so as to improve the flow of cooling air as it is drawn through the enclosure or mounting rack past the disc drives.

  • Patent number: 5220211
Abstract: A high-speed data transport system for use in computers, switches, microprocessors or the like includes a low impedance differential bus and a plurality of transceivers connected to the bus. Each of the transceivers is provided with a driver circuit which places data onto the bus and a receiver for accepting data from the bus. The driver includes a pseudo-differential current driving circuit arrangement which sinks current from only one side of the bus while the other side of the differential bus is undisturbed. The receiver includes a differential comparator biased to a preferred output voltage level.

  • Patent number: 4516266
Abstract: An apparatus for carrying out, at frame rates, entity detection and verification on bit-mapped raster graphic systems by providing an entity identification bit sequence with each feature of the picture displayed. The apparatus includes a display coupled to a store for input data, serially sending items of data to the display, together with means for identifying the items of data so supplied, such that all the items of data forming a selected feature, i.e., line, circle, background or etc. of the display can be identified, and stored. Comparison and register means are used to drive a modulating means to verify the display of the items of data, forming the selected feature, when a correlation occurs between the selected feature and the feature formed by the items of data sent from the store. Verification may be emphasizing, i.e., brightening, flashing, color change, etc. the feature selected.
