  • Publication number: 20100250088
Abstract: When employing an a cruise control system in a commercial or heavy-duty vehicle, an adaptive cruise control (ACC) system (14) is activated upon activation of a vehicle or set-speed cruise control (SSCC) system (16). The ACC (14) remains on, even after SSCC shutoff, to maintain a minimum following distance for a primary vehicle in which the ACC (14) is employed and a forward vehicle. The ACC (14) is deactivated after detection of an ACC shutoff trigger event, which may be driver application of the brakes of the primary vehicle, driver-initiated acceleration for a predefined time period, expiration of a predetermined time period, manual shutoff (e.g., via a switch or button), etc.

  • Patent number: 6863544
Abstract: An electrical connector is disclosed, having a removable printed circuit board. The printed circuit board is capable of electrical connection with pins extending through a connector body and a spacer and is capable of electrical connection with lead wires. The printed circuit board has keying elements to ensure proper alignment with the pins. A lens piece cooperates with the printed circuit board to enable visibility of at least one light emitting diode on the printed circuit board. The lens piece, printed circuit board, and spacer are held in place by a collar engaged with the connector body.

  • Publication number: 20040141276
Abstract: An electrical transient protection circuit in a vehicle includes an input connector, which receives an input voltage, a means for absorbing, which is electrically connected to the input connector, and a means for blocking, which is electrically connected to the input connector. At least one of the means for absorbing and the means for blocking conditions the input voltage by suppressing a voltage transient and producing a corresponding output voltage. The voltage transient is up to i) about 8 times the input voltage through a source impedance of about 0.4&OHgr; for about 0.5 seconds, ii) about 50 times the input voltage through a source impedance of about 20.0&OHgr; for about 1.0 millisecond, and iii) about 50 times a negative of the input voltage through a source impedance of about 20.0&OHgr; for about 1.0 millisecond. An output connector delivers the output voltage, which is about 110% of the input voltage, to an electrical component on the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5109819
Abstract: An accelerator control system having an analog pedal position sensor and an idle switch capable of generating complementary output signals indicative of pedal position. The system includes a control circuit which commands the engine to an idle speed if the analog sensor indicates an idle state or if the complementary output signals together indicate an idle state. The system overrides the idle switch in the absence of complementary output signals therefrom and allows operation in response to the pedal position sensor as long as its output signal is within a predetermined range. Provision is made for operation at a reduced performance level in the event of an out-of-range failure of the analog sensor if the complementary output signals together indicate a non-idle condition.
