    Abstract: An apparatus and method are described for maintaining a constant temperature across an electrically conductive specimen required to be mechanically tested. The invention includes resistance heating the specimen to a desired level during mechanical testing. The specimen is also simultaneously induction heated to a desired level. The resistance heating and inductive heating cooperate so as to heat the specimen to a desired substantially constant temperature during mechanical testing.
