    Abstract: A device is disclosed for acoustically determining one or more characteristics of a powered oral care (POC) implement. The device comprises a transducer and a processor, wherein: the transducer receives sound generated by the POC implement and converts the sound into a signal representative of the sound; the transducer is in electrical communication with the processor and transmits the signal representative of the sound to the processor; and the processor determines one or more characteristics of the POC implement based on the signal representative of the sound.
